Its probably when they were at an event somewhere and someone greened the background and used it as some sort of poster or whatever that image was part of
and might of just been mis-intepreted as alien cyrus

There was probably someone standing on the other side with their hand on his shoulder and when they were erased from the photo, the editor neglected to notice that the hand was still there.
