Outlook and Hotmail
p2pnet.net News:- “It’s times like this when I wonder why all the anti-Microsoft zealots out there don’t seriously consider a new hobby. I mean, with all its missteps, you’d think they’d be happy to see it bumble along, leaving lucrative scraps for everyone else to enjoy.”
So says Motley Fool’s Seth Jayson (TMF Bent).
The subject?
Microsoft’s plan to peddle Outlook to Hotmail users.
“If I were a Microsoft shareholder, the first thing I might wonder is whether anyone over there can do math,” Jayson goes on. “The next thing I might be asking myself is how much time and money was wasted on coming up with this silly scheme, which is obviously doomed to fail. My guess is that Microsoft’s bean counters figured that tight integration with Outlook would lock consumers into a service that’s three times the cost of its nearest competitor. Nice one, guys. That’ll keep the antitrust suits rolling in.”
Or, “What kind of person would actually pay for crap like Outlook?” - as a p2pnet reader puts it more simply.

I was tied to a hotmail account for a long time. I hated it but had been using it for so long I hated to change since so many people had that address. A combination of my getting mad about the ever shrinking size of the inbox for the free service and gmail launching whats a pretty solid service where finally enough to get me to leave hotmail. And why would anyone want to use that cumbersome, bloated outlook? With great alternatives like Thunderbird, and Pegis out there?
