Google steals Firefox lead
p2pnet.net News:- Head-hunting – stealing good staff – is a routine part of the scene in the corporate community.
Now Google has stolen Britain’s Ben Goodger, Firefox’s now ex-lead programmer.
hmmmmm
“As of January 10, 2005, my source of income changed from The Mozilla Foundation to Google, Inc. of Mountain View, California,” he says on his blog.
“My role with Firefox and the Mozilla project will remain largely unchanged, I will continue doing much the same work as I have described above – with the new goal of successful 1.1, 1.5 and 2.0 releases. I remain devoted full-time to the advancement of Firefox, the Mozilla platform and web browsing in general.”
hmmmmm
Google has registered gbrowser.com, hired key programmers and sponsors a Mozilla programmer meeting, CNET points out, also emphasising that Firefox has a built-in search box that offers Google as its default option.

They’re definately building a GBrowser. And concidering their position in IT, it would pretty quickly take over large pieces, if not most of the browser market. But, it must be open source, not only because Firefox and Mozilla are open, but also because I don’t trust google. They’re too damn suspicious… (www.google-watch.org – more info on google’s shady actions).
