MPAA launches more lawsuits

p2pnet.net News:- The Big Seven movies studios have fired off more lawsuits against p2p file sharers.

“We cannot allow people to steal our motion pictures and other products online, and we will use all the options we have available to encourage people to obey the law,” says MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) ceo Dan Glickman.

The studios have picked up the famously inept and ragingly unsuccessful RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) sue ‘em all war in an attempt to stomp online file sharing into the ground.

Through its RIAA, the multi-billion-dollar record label cartel claims it’s being “devastated” by file sharing, at the same time reporting eye-popping revenues.

Now the studios are echoing the theme as people spend record amounts on the movies.

The MPAA doesn’t say how many people or sites are being hit this time around.

Suprnova.org recently went down, to re-appear as eXeem, and Yourceff.com is still offline.

LokiTorrent.com said it was prepared to fight the good fight against the studios, but the site is currently for sale, although Lowkee says, “I simply wanted to know what kind of bids this website gets (as people keep telling me it’s a ‘gold mine’) …”

Contrast the position of the MPAA with that of theatre chain Famous Players in this news story, and ask yourself who has it right.

“Movies for $4 less in Ontario”
    By GAYLE MacDONALD
    From Thursday’s Globe and Mail

Toronto — Blame the almighty DVD, the splashy home theatre and the comfy armchair in your family room.
All those factors were cited yesterday for a stealthy drop in attendance at movie theatres that prompted Famous Players Inc., the country’s largest exhibitor, to chop $4 off its ticket prices in Ontario.

Yeah. theaters are victims of changing times because of the dvd player and the national economy here in the united states is in a undeclared business recession.

IN OTHER WORDS EVERYBODY IS BROKE AMD/OR DON’T HAVE ANY EXTRA MONEY TO SQUANDER ON THINGS THEY DON’T NEED……………

  3. Reader's Write Says:

And all these fuckers thought they made a difference in the world of file sharing. Amen to whomever decides to egg his house and end this tyranny once and for all!

One day hopefully money will be a thing of the past and material things become less important. OK I am a Star Trek fan I admit it :)
