Wanted: IRMA Linux translators

p2pnet.net News:- If you’re interested in translating Linux applications into different languages, think IRMA, a Linspire project which aims to get desktop Linux versions to everyone, everywhere.

Late last year Linspire announced IRMA so core desktop Linux components can be in as many languages as possible, says ceo Michael Robertson.

“IRMA makes it as easy as reading an English phrase and then typing in your translation on a web page,” Robertson says on his blog.

“It’s an enormous job, so we are asking people who fluently speak both English and another language to volunteer to help out.”

Robertson promises all translations performed through IRMA, “which are subject to any open source license agreements,” will be offered to the open source community.

“However,” adds the translatin registration page, “certain software programs, or portions thereof, included in the Linspire operating system are subject to the intellectual property rights of Linspire and others.

Go here for full details, including the registration form.

Well Michael, why the hell would someone one want to translate parts of
Linspire for free when you are charging $90 for it?
You might find a few suckers out there, but I personally hope you
    find none.

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Linspire charges $49 for the OS and you can find it for free on P2P. The CNR Warehouse costs $49. About $40 cheaper than what you were talking about. There are a lot of people who would love to see Linspire translated to other languages.
