Jeff Parson goes to jail

p2pnet.net News:- "Blaster Worm in teenager’s mind damages 48,000 computers"

How’s that for an erudite headline?

It’s the way in which Express Newsline sums up the impending imprisonment of Jeff Parson, the 19-year-old hacker from what they call a ‘dysfunctional’ home. He’s been sentenced to a year-and-a-half in a federal US jail because he angered Bill and the Boyz, in effect, by launching a re-configured Blaster worm.

Parson lives in Minnesota but the trial was staged (word used advisedly) in Microsoft’s home-town of Seattle.

As US district judge Marsha Pechman sentenced Parson, she observed that, "mental illness led him to virtually imprison himself at home," says the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

In a plea bargain, he admitted he’d modified the Blacter worm by inserting a backdoor to give him future access to infected computers, "then launching a denial-of-service attack in a failed attempt to overwhelm a Microsoft Web site," says the story.

"Microsoft says it cost the company $1.2 million to clean up Parson’s mess. The case was prosecuted in Seattle because Microsoft, which is based in Redmond, is considered his primary victim."

This just shows how much the government is in the hands of corporations such as Micro$oft. This judge and prosecutor need to be shown the door for this idiotic, shameful mis-use of the judicial system. The people must take back the government which corrupt corportations now control. There are teens covicted of murder that get less time that this poor kid, who didn’t even create this worm. This is frikin’ sad. He is just a pawn for the government, media, and big business.

M$ is a criminal organisation, it has been convicted many times. Yet in the end they have been able to buy themselves out thanks to government curruption. What about the FDA approving unsafe drugs because greedy corps and their executives would loose money. What about TYCO, Arthur Anderson, Enron? When will they pay a price. Never, until the people take back the govenment from corrupt politicians and corrupt corps.

don’t you think it was a less punishment for a person who did a greater mistake.
My own office had trouble on 20 PCs after that worm came in. And we had no option but to reinstall the OS. at that moment the updates and patches were not released.
I think he should have been given a harder punishment.

If hes mad, why doesn’t he ruin himself and is kicking ass of other computer users.

Was it his modifed blaster worm that infected your PCs? This kid did not even create the Baster worm, do you know that? Whoever created it is still out there, so you’re still not safe and never will be.

You need to protect you PCs by educating users, using firewalls, backups, etc. It is ignorance that caused your problems not this kid; but, I guess it is easier to blame someone than it is to admit your own ignorance.

Hmmm, and Microsoft holes in their software were not in the least bit to blame?
What are the virus creators supose to do add a eula to the code that removes them from any liability?

I find that when Democrats run things, Goverments become more intrusive and take more of our rights and bully us. However, when Reublicans are in control, it is the Cartels that are the intruders, and the bullies. It is a sad state of affairs when a Cartel can approach a city governemnt and have that city governemnt use Eminent Domain to steal property from citizens and give to the Cartel, yet this happens all the time in the United States.

Look at how the movie, software (M$), and music cartels use the Department of (In)Justice to sieze the property of their customers. I do see a way for the people to fight back, if people get off their asses and make the effort do so. They can be stopped, Look at what the people of Eastern Europe have done. They had enough of the crap that the powers that be dished out. They had a bloodless (for the most part) revolt. There are a few simple steps needed to regain our freedom.

The first step is education (not the school kind). LEARN WHAT CHOICES YOU HAVE. If you have to buy a product, look at the different online auctions out there before running to the local Walmart. The same goes for voting at the polls. Remember that there are more choices than Democrat and Republican (The political cartels). Yes, people say that you are wasting your vote. I say that you are voting against being screwed. When people start thinking and (more importantly doing) for themselves big government and big cartels will lose their power.

The second step is to STOP CONSUMING CARTEL PRODUCTS except when absolutely necessary. The cartels depend on our consumption to continue their existance. I don’t buy from the music cartel. In fact, I find the independent bands have much better music than most of the crap put out by the cartels. I don’t consume the poison from the media cartels. I get my news from blogs and independent websites. I live in an area where I can grow my own food, and I do so as much as possible. I do however consume the product from the fuel cartels because I live a long way from work (I drive an economy vehicle to minimize consumption), and there is no other transportation option, but many who live in the city can find other options in many cases. I am also forced to consume insurance cartel products, because the state co-erces (yes under threat of jail) me to.

The third step is to realize that you nor I can do it alone. We need the support of others. We need to help each other. We can trade with each other instead of the cartels? Flea markets are a great place to get needed goods for a reasonable price without buying from the retail cartels. They ignore us, so why not ignore them to the best of our ability. The telephone cartel known as SBC (SouthWestern Bell Company) or better yet as Satan’s broacasting Company has recently aquired AT&T (which normally provides good customer service in my area). SBC provides the worst customer service of any telco or ISP I’ve seen. I’m definitly switching my cellphone service from AT&T.

Fourth, do not think of this as a message from a Communist, because I am not a communist. I believe in free enterprize with minimal government or cartel interference. I just understand that the cartels are beasts which destroy everything that gets in their way with impunity. Cartels generally ‘watch each others’ backs” though mergers, partnerships etc. The software cartel gives the (governemnt) education cartel free software and the governemnt cartel gives the software cartel a free pass. The students consume the software and become pawns of the software cartel.
