Australian Security Theater: Conroy’s net gag sparks AUS assassination and bomb plot chatter
Members of the community responsible for recent attacks on government websites are now discussing a violent uprising, trading bomb recipes and calling for the assassination of Communications Minister Stephen Conroy.
The government plans to introduce legislation within weeks forcing ISPs to block a blacklist of “refused classification” websites for all Australians on a mandatory basis. In submissions to the government made public this week, Australia’s biggest technology companies, communications academics and many lobby groups warned the filters would do little to protect children online and would stifle free speech.
Per the Inquirer
One bloke described how to make a bomb out of acetone, hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid. The instructions required a responsible adult to help with the scissors.
Of course it all falls into the hands of autocratic nutcases like Conway who would love to feel that they are somehow defending themselves from real terrorists, rather than a bunch of ticked-off kids with Internet connections.
Think of the kids!
Obama Twitter hacker freed
INSPECTOR PIERRE KNACKER of le Paris Yard has fingered the collar of the 25 year-old unemployed bloke who hacked into US President Obama’s Twitter account.
The unnamed bloke has been told to show up in court and face the music. Despite the fact that he has been the subject of a huge police and FBI inquiry, coppers insist that he is not a criminal genius who plotted to overthrow the West using Obama’s Twitter feed as his unwitting tool.
It took the feds several months to track down the bloke, who was known only by the pseudonym “Hacker Croll”.

Commentary: The Virginia Watchdog back in court
The Virginia Watchdog case was back in court this week. PogoWasRight.org has been following this case and the efforts of Betty “BJ” Ostergren since 2006.
If you’re new to the case, the matter is simple to explain: BJ doesn’t want states putting your Social Security numbers online in their publicly available databases like land records and she doesn’t want them making such information available in their records if you go to the courthouse. She has advocated for protecting and redacting information that could be used for identity theft. As part of her tactics, she has occasionally posted public officials’ SSN that she obtained from publicly available databases. In 2008, Virginia passed a law to make her conduct illegal — on the pretext of protecting SSN and reducing ID theft. With the help of the ACLU, BJ successfully challenged the law, and the court held that the state could not restrict BJ’s First Amendment rights to post on her sites what the state was posting on its own site. The judge was not sympathetic to the state’s claim that although they wanted to redact all SSN, it was costly and labor-intensive. The court basically told the state that if they’re serious, they need to clean up their own act.
http://www.pogowasright.org = great little goldmine of a site on privacy issues.
Title of this story should be:
Woman upset that SSN’s are being posted publically and it’s a privacy threat, so she posts publicly availble SSN’s of state officials allowing it. State passes law to make what she posts illegal.
Go figure! I say toss her in gitmo with Gary and the other crazed economy busting hacker who attack Obama.

Facebook Threatens Greasemonkey Script Writer-PH33R
“Another day, another abusive bullying attempt. This time, it’s Facebook, which is apparently trying to bully the maker of a Greasemonkey script that cleans up your Facebook live feed by removing annoying app notices (such as all the crap your friends are doing in Farmville and Mafia Wars).

Propaganda. Know it. Learn it. Happening now.
Persuasive messages like these were everywhere during the Second World War, including on CBC Radio and Canadian movie screens. Indeed, wartime propaganda wasn’t just the domain of Nazi Germany — Canada too created films, radio dramas and posters aimed at convincing citizens to join the military or help out on the home front.
Continues to this day. On p2pnet.net (someone else can search it) last year the US, during its’ great depression, earmarked millions for digital internet-age propaganda while they wouldn’t extend your Unemployment premiums for a month. “The war on terror” (security theater) is worth more than its citezens and your children.
