Being ‘Skyped’
p2pnet.net News:- “I’m being ‘Skyped’ by strangers, sending ‘Let me Skype you’ messages to prospective ‘Skypee’s’ and trying to speak ‘Chinglish’ to a pretty girl in Jinan, China,” writes The Fifth Cylinder author Ian Campbell.
“I’m sure by now you have discovered the new online messenger and chat format called Skype,” he says in a useless-knowledge.com post, going on:
“And sadly, like all new services, it doesn’t take long for the porno’s, pervs or simple idoits to discover it as well. My wife gets far more of this than I do, for obvious reasons. Lately she removed her picture from her Skype Profile as she received so many potential ‘Skypee’s’ asking about the size of her mammary glands or sharing with her the size of their male organs! I mean, she just cannot wait…”
Campbell continues, “I see the court case of Michael Jackson in the news and I wonder what his profile would be like on Skype. ‘Talented musician seeks young children for parts in new music video. Send picture.’ Just to say I am saddened but not surprised by the way the immoral always attacks the moral or the way filth tries to dirty the clean!”
Interestingly, the useless-knowledge page carrying Campbell’s words also had an ad for screensavers sporting a girl with artistically raised buttocks.
But it wasn’t on Skype so presumably that’s OK ; )

Hmmm… Who appointed this guy to be the judge of what’s “moral”? I think he better get his mind out of the gutter so mine can float by… Get over yourself, Ian.
BTW- Those “Moral” (whatever that means) folks NEVER attack “immoral” people. Just ask someone who’s gay.

The post is a fictional spoof. Skype doesn’t work the way described. The authors imagination is working overtime. You can’t seen pictures of people not on your buddy lists etc. Authorization must take place. Similarly, there are setting that will give you all the privacy you want.

How unfortunate.
I’m not sure who gathers these stories (hodge-podge, copied and pasted with some mis-spelt commentary inbetween), but they’re feculant and biased, and of very little merit to alot of people.
p2pnet subcategories include:
- Bad mouthing “legitimate” (or “legal”) music download sites, whilst offering no insight or ideas about how the situation might be improved.
- bad mouthing record and movie studio (okay, fair enough, they’re evil – but its about as fair and balanced as Fox News cable channel)
- Bad mouthing Apple, occasionally Microsoft…but everyone bags Bill & Co., tall poppy syndrome applies less there.
And then this!?
Absurd and pointless. Do you guys have a quota you feel obligated to fill on the ’story’ count.
All this aside, I do enjoy the fact that you keep up with Copyright cases, and general tech news… but how about writing some more material, not just commenting on it in an obscenely unbalanced fashion?
