AOL drops Usenet

p2pnet.net News:- “Mega industry powerhouse A.O.L. has announced that sometime in early February it will be dropping Usenet,” says P2PForums.

“At that time the few AOL customers who know what a newsgroup is, let alone how to use and access them will no longer be able to. P2PForums.com has been able to find three intelligent AOL users who are none to happy about this. ‘Tom’ we will call him says this, ‘I put in the keyword newsgroups, and I receive this message. Please Note: The AOL Newsgroup service will be discontinued in early 2005. It’s really upsetting. I am a long time Newsgroup fan with no other broadband choice besides A.O.L. in my area.’

“P2PForums wanted to get a wider view of AOL customer’s thoughts this shocking development, so we joined a typical AOL chat room. When asking in the room, ‘Hello, I am from a file sharing news/community webpage. We would like to know what AOL customers think of the company’s decision to drop News Group access.’ These are a sample of some of the responses we got. Sexxyiamreallyagirlreally7372 said, ‘wut joo tak’in bout? Wtf be newsgroupies? Wana cybr?’ Another AOL’er, jomammaberickjamesbitch323, said ‘Heya kid. Wud joo lik to meet me some place? Jus don tell u’r folks!!!  …!,13!!’ So it seems as if maybe this drastic move by AOL will not have such a widespread effect after all. In fact at the time of publishing, and after many hours of grueling investigating P2PForums was only able to find three AOL subscribers who where upset about this move. So to Ray, Tom, and Jorge we are sorry!

“Please note, no AOL customers where harmed in the writing of this story.”

Say what you want about aol, but i don’t see any other services where i can get up to 16megs per E-mial to my mail box and have not just 1gig but basicly unlimited space for my mail box, Plus i have never recived a Virus from just opening mail, so say what you want i’m happy with my AOL e-mail.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

O and i for got that with AOL unlike Gmail or Walla 1 gig accounts, no ones spidering threw my e-mails.
