RIAA sues dead woman

p2pnet.net News:- In its biggest cock-up yet, the Big Music cartel’s RIAA has sued a dead woman who didn’t even own a computer.

The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), “sued Gertrude Walton, accusing her of illegally trading music over the Internet as “smittenedkitten,” says the Associated Press, going on:

“But the lawsuit was filed more than a month after the 83-year-old woman died in December, and her daughter says Walton hated computers, anyway.”

Walton was the sole defendant in a federal lawsuit that claimed she’d shared more than 700 songs through p2p networks.

But Robin Chianumba said her mother objected to having a computer in the house and, “wouldn’t know how to turn on a computer,” says AP.

The dead woman’s daughter faxed a copy of her mother’s death certificate to record company officials several days before the lawsuit was filed, in response to a letter from the company regarding the upcoming legal filing.

“I am pretty sure she is not going to leave Greenwood Memorial Park (where she is buried) to attend the hearing,” AP quotes Chianumba as saying, adding that RIAA spokesman Jonathan Lamy says the record label enforcement organization, “will now, of course, obviously dismiss this case”.

Are they just drawing names out of a hat and sueing now?
    common! she didn’t even own a computer…

If only there was a ‘too many lawsuits’ law… to prevent companies like the RIAA from going on lawsuit rampages like this… >_>

  3. Reader's Write Says:

You can thank your dickhead congressman for passing the Dmca for this travesty.

That is what you get when congressman in the united states shamelessly hold the mpaa’s and riaa’s penis in their hand doing the knee pad brigade thing……………………

WHAT A BUNCH OF SILLY CUNTS!!!!

  4. Reader's Write Says:

    Guilty until proven innocent

The million doller question is, out of all these law suites who is geting the money. Is it just RIAA and music maffia or do any of these artists getting anything from it. I want to see the paper work.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

RIAA is a non-profit organisation so no one can get “profits”.
However they can spend all the money on further lawsuits,
making lawyers even richer than they are now.

  7. Reader's Write Says:

Wow, that is outragious on what the RIAA is doing, it reminds of the
movie “Lemony snikets a series of unfortunate events”

Also, I think they are making Gigabyte Caps to limit the internet usage,
Not sure though.. I have a 10Gb cap limit.

    Here’s an example:

Well this could be a good thing if you take the story and spin it like this” News Flash” RIAA drops Lawsuit after Realizing they can’t win Infringement Lawsuit case” Riaa backs down against Grandmother Spokesman for the Riaa say “case to hard to Win” It’s all in how you spin it!!!! Might get others to take their cases to court?????? Hey they (Riaa) Lie. We just tell the truth !!!!! with a couple of facts missing!!!!!

  11. Reader's Write Says:

    LOL
    thats a good idea!
I think the victims should sue the RIAA on the grounds of slanderous lawsuits…lol

I say all the victims and friends of the victims should get to gether and fight back!

oh most definetly they are using something because on kazaa when you download a song and you listen to it half way through it starts staticing and then nothing, you’ve downloaded a worthless song and have to go and download it again, that’s why I stopped using kazaa because there is too many riaa brown nosers on there ya know, I mean how do you think they are getting so many people , they got people on there spying for them , hackers and people maybe that have been caught and they are using them to get others that’s probably what they mean by (if I don’t spell this right forgive me ) leanyancy they tell the people that they catch to help them to get others , watch yourselves people because the riaa isn’t playing by the rules either, the courts may tell them too but what the courts don’t know gets your ass’s busted by the riaa gestapo !!!!!!!!

  13. Reader's Write Says:
