p2pnet.net News:- I’ve taken the ExLite – doing well : ) post down while I try to find out who’s real and who isn’t.
There’s a major dispute between various sites, all of who claim to be THE eXeem Lite, or ExLite.
The eXeem that took over from Sprnova is loaded with Cydoor adware (or spyware, depending on who you talk to). So is one of the apps that’s supposed to be clean, apparently. The people who built eXeem Lite admit Cydoor is still on their app, but say it’s been blocked. I don’t know. I haven’t tried either. And they say, “tomorrow we will release a new version with completly deleted cydoor and we will not block exlite.net.”
Read the comments to see where it’s at. I’ll post the answers as soon as I have them.
(There goes my quiet Sunday. It’s my birthday, my daughter has just reminded me – heh)
UPDATE:- Post from eXeem Lite: “Tomorrow we will release a new version of eXeem Lite 0.20 with without CyDoor (completely removed – not only blocking) and without blocking exlite.net and exlite.tk in the HOSTS files. Sorry for this @ exlite.net and to p2pnet.net.”

DO NOT USE http://WWW.EXLITE.PL!!!!
You should check the forums at http://www.exlite.net. According to a post there in Announcements, both http://www.exlite.pl and http://www.exeemlite.com are actually ANTI-exeemlite sites. The software from there not only STILL contains Cydoor but also modifies your PC’s hosts file so that exlite.net becomes unreachable. I have not personally confirmed this, but then again it won’t be hard to do an install and then check your hosts file for modifications. So…heads up.

http://www.exlite.pl and http://www.exeemlite.com are both scams. The download at http://www.exeemlite.com is exactly the same download at the .pl site. Both still contain Cydoor. In addition, they try to block the http://www.exlite.net and http://www.exlite.tk sites through the Windows Hosts file.
To test for yourself, after installing their client go to this location C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc . open the file named “HOSTS” in notepad or any other text editer (if its easier for you, rename the file to HOSTS.txt and double click). Scroll down and you will find these two entries ->
127.0.0.1 exlite.net
127.0.0.1 exlite.tk
Would you install and trust an application that tries to block you from accessing other sites on the net without telling you?

They are both SCAMS!!!!! And they make your computer block exlite.tk and .net! -those are the only REAL ones!

They still have the cydoor spyware, AND they modify your host file so that you can’t get to exlite.net or .tk anymore!!!
someone fix this!!! I can’t beleive this happened…
exlite.tk and exlite.net are the ONLY real ones! these contain no spyware or any host file modifiers!

they dont even fix cydoor… they just use the original exeem and claim they use the host file to block cydoor… but in reality they are using it to block the REAL exlite.net!!!!! BULLSH!TERS!… >_>

p2pnet is supposed to help us… not lead us to sites that support cydoor, faking to be cydoor free… exlite.pl is just as bad as exeem.com… if not worse… cause exlite.pl ’s version blocks our access to exlite.net… exlite.tk and exlite.net are the ONLY real exlite sites…

If I’m not mistaken… Exlite.tk was the first to even come up with the idea for exeem lite… And they were the first to have a website and download for it. And their sites are exlite.tk and exlite.net
On the other hand, exlite.pl and those other sites apeared recently… and are probably produced by cydoor or suprnova (or just some jerk) to prevent people from getting the real exeem lite. The download on those sites is just the exact same thing on the exeem.com site… and still contain cydoor… but as an added bonus, when you install the one from exlite.pl it puts a HOSTS file on your computer that blocks you from accessing the REAL exlite.tk
So there… I hope that clears things up a bit.

Deal with what? I posted a story in good faith and as soon as I saw there were problems, I took it down. And when I know what’s happening, I’ll put it back with whatever updates and explanations are necessary.
But I’ll say this – I strongly doubt there’s any malice involved.
For now, I emailed the eXeem Lite builders in Poland and I’ll let everyone know their response as soon as I have it.
And now since it really IS my birthday, I’m off for some home-made chili and home-made cake : )

This is WarXchild from the http://www.exlite.net. Let us set this straight based on facts.
First of all im surprised that you have not even bothered to visit http://www.exlite.net or talk to any admin there. I first posted regarding the malicious exlite.pl installer on our forums (go to http://www.exlite.net, click on Announcements topic and read “Warning”) . Thats how this whole thing first came out of the box.
Second, to make your invesitgation easier, go to http://www.exeemlite.com . Notice the download posted there is the same exlite.pl download. Now look at the “Chat” link on exeemlite.com, howcome it points to OUR IRC chat channel? Is this yet another scam to think its coming from us? Its funny that they post that as their IRC channel, yet if you go into the channel we will tell you its a fake.Their client take you to an anchor page where they mention that exeemlite.com is one of -their- official channels. If so, howcome it points to -our- chat channel? Its all scams from the fake websites, the chats pointing to us, the look of the exeemlite.com site to resemble our old one, and to blocking our sites.
Three, I have never censored or blocked posts mentioning exlite.pl . Instead I mentioned it still had Cydoor and only blocks it through the HOSTS file. We gave people the choice to choose whatever they want as we have nothing to hide. Niether did we resort to scams or tricks to “lure” people.
Further more, we had absulutly no comlpaints regarding our version having Cydoor, installing HOSTS files, or any other trickery. Simply because it does not.
Based on these simple facts above which one do you think is legitimate? The weird anomolies regarding the chat link on exeemlite.com should be sufficient.
If the only thing “some” people are holding against eXlite is that somehow he ripped off Kceasy, and whether that is true or not, it still does not change the merit of the eXlite client he provides.
You have mentioned that you will contact the developers of eXlite in “poland”. That comments gives the impression that you already know who the real developers are, and thus there is no need for “confusion”, which is apparently not the case. In addition that it doesnt seem that you have tried to contact anyone from http://www.exlite.net to get their input on this matter. Which seems a bit biased to me.
I also do not understand your comment that you do not believe there is any malice involved. How can you say there is no malice involved when they admit to blocking their users from accessing other websites on the internet without their consent, and they only come clean when someone found out and exposed them?
After I first broke the news about the HOSTS file, someone at exlite.pl contacted me appologizing and saying they will remove it from their next version. Frankly it might be more “sane” for us to drop exlite completely and save our selves the pain of having to go through these things.
On that note, eXlite (dan) has released his own P2P app and its available for beta testers. And I am in the process of developing another one based .torrents. Like many others, although I think the exeem idea is commendable, I think its implementation is lacking. But to each his own.

you have deleted/edited all posts (2) where were links to our version/website ! You wanted ban us (MrBurns) from your forum, because we wanted give people the chance to download our eXeem Lite (yeah we had to remove our sig, because there was a link to our eXeem Lite 0.20).

Posted on the 4th a full 3 days before anyone even knew what you did to your users. More proof against your lies.
Furthermore, MrBurns has always had your site and the URL listed in his signature. He had to remove your sig -because- of what you have done. I have asked MrBurns and gave him a warning to remove the signature ‘yesterday’ after we found out that you were blocking us by changing your users HOSTS file without informing them. Contradicts what you are saying above doesn it? Funny how suddenly the reason becomes “you asked burns to delete his sig” when it happened -after- and because we found out about what you have done. Links to your sites are infact still available in our forums. We still reserve the right to ban or delete any topics on OUR forums that we deem are inappropriate, although we have a policy of not doing such a thing. What nobody has a right to do is to secretly and maliciously changing peoples PC configuration to disable access to other sites on the net without their consent.
Word of advice, twisting the truth and lies will always be exposed. And your use of “HAHAHAHA”, caps, and ***** insults does not lend you more credibility either. We all know the “1337 h@X0rZ” who use such language. Congratulations on shooting yourself yet again.
