Young MS hacker sentenced
p2pnet.net News:- Around the time Master Blaster Master Jeff Parson took an interest in Microsoft’s site, eventually earning him a year-and-a-half in jail, another hacker was releasing the RPCSDBOT.
This was in August 2003 and the author, aged 14 at the time, on Friday admitted he then directed infected computers to attack the Microsoft page, shutting it down for about four hours, says the Seattle Times.
Were the two incidents related?
No, decided the “authorities”.
At his sentencing, the “juvenile” said, “I did it out of curiosity and did not think I would cause any damage. I am sorry I created problems for people I did not even know.” states the story.
He was sentenced to probation for three years, and has to have mental-health counseling and perform 300 hours of community service.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office said yesterday that the investigation of the Blaster worm is continuing,” adds the Seattle Times.
