Micro$oft vs Sharelive
p2pnet.net News:- Sharelive is one of many sites that provides users with the hash of file available of file sharing networks. Users’ file sharing clients then search for a file with the matching hash and download it via their preferred network. Anyone who understands technology can understand that this practice, while perhaps not 100% Kosher, doesn’t violate anyone’s copyrights.
Sharelive doesn’t offer any copyrighted software, films, or music for download. If the copyright mafia was to raid the Sharelive server, not one Britney Spears mp3, or a single episode of Friends, would be found.
So who’s been hounding Sharelive claiming their copyrights are being violated?
None other then the world’s biggest technology monopoly – Micro$oft.
The company that hosts Sharelive recently received emails in regard to this matter. Here’s part of the email they recently received.

Being a diligent host, the company promptly investigated each link provided by Micro$ofts crack team of ninja chimps. They found that not a single one of the programs listed was hosted for download on the Sharelive website or their servers.
However Micro$oft wasn't happy just contacting the host.
They also contacted the DNS provider who dropped the domain with little to no investigation. The website suffered a small amount of down time yesterday due to the DNS issue.
Never fear though, Sharelive quickly found another. Sharelive's host vows to stick by the website.
“We are not going to drop a perfectly legal site, simply on the claims of power happy, copyright holders who have not done their homework”, said a source.
Well, P2PForums has to score the first round of this fight to Sharelive. Micro$oft Zero, Sharelive One. P2PForums will continue to follow this story and keep our readers updated on any new developments if and when they become available.

They dont offer office 2000 for sale anymore.. in fact it’s several generations behind now. They’ve abandoned production and i believe support for the software as well. It’s abandonware.

The older M$ products always have less bloatware stuffed in them. I use Office ‘97 myself – a very lean, clean program compared to the latest gluttonous software by M$.

They don’t care about patching this anymore or applying security updates or providing support for it. WHY SHOULD THEY CARE?
USE LINUX.
