‘I think Flash is crap’
p2pnet view P2P:- Whether you like Steve Jobs and/or Apple stuff or not, there’s a lot of support for his decision not to use Adobe Flash for the iPod, iPad or iPhone.
And p2pnet reader Lions2010 is among those who are firmly on Jobs’ side.
Adobe says it doesn’t care because it’s “working to bring Flash Player and AIR to all the other major participants in the mobile ecosystem, including Google, RIM, Palm (soon to be HP), Microsoft, Nokia and others.”
“I love most of apples stuff”, says Lions2010 in a comment to the p2pnet Adobe post, going on >>>
But nothing against Linux at all.
As a blind person, I tried Ubuntu, just because they said It was accessible, so I wanted to see how accessible it was.
Turns out, from what I saw, not half bad.
Anyway, I think flash is crap too. From an accessibility standpoint, from what I’ve seen over my last 10 years of using the various screen readers such as Windoweyes and Jaws For Windows, flash is not very accessible, if at all.
Even if you don’t like apple at all, as of 2008 or so,you have to give it to them when it comes to accessibility.
And, “All typed on a MacBook Pro”, says Lions2010 -
“Lol!”
heh

The man speaks truth. Flash is inaccessible by default. Developers have to enable it, and do a bunch of other things, so you can imagine how often that happens. And even when developers try, the interface is usually quite clunky at best.
Fortunately, most flash is just used to play videos or ads, and most videos will autoplay, so I can usually avoid having to interact with flash objects. It’s the exceptions that really suck!

Simple: It is about control. If flash stuff runs Apple has not control over it.
Apple wants to control their sheep!

If Flash is so great, why are all the browser plugins that allow more control over what it can and can’t do so popular? Lets face reality folks. Flash is a buggy, ill performing bit of bloated, inefficient closed source programming. Not only has it been a danger to our collective security for far too long, but to our privacy as well. I look forward to the day when I no longer have to hex edit the latest Flash plugin just to get it to working the way it should.

I don’t want Apple or Adobe to have “control” of streaming video. HTML5 open source streaming standards can’t gain momentum fast enough.

You guys have no clue what you’re talking about. Flash is a scripting language, and like every scripting language comes crappy applications made by crappy devs. I understand Flash is a overused, especially in ads. But the web would’ve NEVER have developped as a gaming and animation/video platform if it wasn’t for Flash. You might not like it for video, but there’s no real alternative to vector animations. If it wasn’t for Flash, there would be no Happy Tree Friends and such. A lot of today’s cartoons began on Flash a few years ago, and like it or not HTML5 doesn’t do this kind of thing… You totally have the right to badmouth Flash, but please do it for the right reasons..
… like why Apple just opened the access to the video card API on OSX?? Why only now??
