The Pirate Party hosts The Pirate Bay
p2pnet view P2P | Politics:- Sweden’s Pirate Party — the political group, that is — has sailed to the aid of Sweden’s Pirate Bay– the indexing site, that is.
“We got tired of Hollywood’s cat-and-mouse game with the Pirate Bay and decided to offer the bandwith,” says Rick Falkvinge, leader of the Swedish Pirate Party in a statement on Earth Times.
But don’t get too excited.
Although the offer covers the website and its search engine, it doesn’t include the tracker function “that allowed peer-to-peer networking where files were exchanged”, says the story.
“The files are not on the Pirate Bay website and are kept elsewhere, the Swedish Pirate Party said”, according to the post, which continues >>>
“The Pirate Bay is a search site, and as such it is not responsible for the search results,” Falkvinge argued.
His party clinched a seat in the Swedish European Parliament last year and is planning to run in parliamentary elections in September.

“Following an injunction obtained by several major Hollywood movie studios, yesterday Pirate Bay bandwidth provider CB3ROB Ltd. & Co. KG took the decision to take the site offline while it digested the legal implications”, says enigmax on TorrentFreak.
“That meant that for several hours The Pirate Bay, for the first time in many months, was taken offline.”

It’s funny how a person can get quoted for words that were never actually his, but the words of a translator. Here there are several different translations floating around the internet. All quoted verbatim.
The exact statement (in Swedish) can be found here:
http://press.piratpartiet.se/2010/05/18/piratpartiet-levererar-pirate-bays-bandbredd/
A possibly better English translation (summary) can be found here:

One can only wonder how libel laws apply to mis-translations.

The Pirate Bay replaced the centralized tracker (Running server side) by decentralized magnet links ( Running client side) and shutdown the tracker a year or so ago. So there is no need for hosting a tracker for tbp. may be a problem with the translation?
