Some users can connect to the network with no problem, but others cannot, and Ares will just continue to say: “
For a solution you can try:
1. uninstall and reinstall Ares applying Ares Connection fixer and using the latest Ares build
2. If that fails to work, you can try an older Ares build HERE or HERE. Note: you must clean out the registry of Ares registry keys before you can install an older Ares version. The Ares Connection fixer will also clean the registry of Ares keys.
3. Try Filecroc v.1.01 build 2942 This was the last version of Filecroc (an Ares clone) that did not have any spyware. Do not download the latest Filecroc from the official site, as it installs non-optional spyware.
4. Try KCeasy Although the multi-network P2Papplication KCeasy does not have Ares chat, it will connect to the Ares network, among others.

Ares Connection Fixer
This program will fix connection issues with Ares.
It has been proven to correct numerous issuse, and in its newest version (2.0) it is compatible with Ares and Ares Lite.
The following are several key versions that have been released. Click the version number to download the corresponding file in zip format.
Note: only the newest can be confirmed as totally reliable.

The Ares Connection Fixer basically wipes out the Ares registry keys, allowing Ares (either the existing installation or a new installation) to regenerate fresh keys. Make sure that Ares is not running [Ares likes to hide in the system tray when you close the program] when you run the Connection Fixer, the fix won’t work otherwise – and you might even corrupt your registry.

NOTE: As with the installer of any P2P application, ALWAYS uncheck all the boxes when you install Ares. (Navhelper and Navexcel Search Toolbar is spyware/adware; something you definitely don’t want to install)
In Ares Control Panel, if “Auto connect to network when I start Ares” is not checked, then you must click the “Connect” icon every time you run Ares.
Unlike most applications, there is no “About” listing in Ares to tell you what version and build number you are running. To find out what build of Ares you have, locate the Ares.exe file (should be in C:Program FilesAres) and right-click on it, then click “Properties”, then the “Version” tab.

about time! I haven’t been able to connect to ares since last summer … I think if I had one more condescending forum “do gooder” tell me I had incorrectly set my firewall I was going to hunt them down and give them what for – heh

i host a channel in ares,and ppl are dissconnected all the time? i thought it was them but its me ?even when i go from room to room i get dissconnected all the time.This problem just stared and i dont know wht else to you can u give me some ideas or do u know wht the problem is that im having??…

NOT BEING A COMPUTER BOFFIN I SUBSCRIBED TO ARES AND BY MISTAKE AS IT IS NOT VERY CLEAR, THEY TOOK THE FULL SUBSCRIPTION FOR FILM DOWNLOADS BLAH BLAH FROM MY CREDIT CARD. I IMMEDIATLEY SENT AN EMAIL TO CANCEL VIA THE MEMBERS PAGE AND HAD NO REPLY. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY SENT 4 FURTHER EMAILS WITHIN THE 7 DAYS CANCELLATION PERIOD TO CANCEL DUE TO LACK OF SUPPORT AND STILL I HAVE HAD NO REPLY. HAVE THEY TAKEN MY MONEY AND DONE A RUNNER COS I HAVENT EVEN BEEN ABLE TO ACCESS THE DOWNLOADS?,

idk i use ares every day 2 download my songs stay updated in music and now i cant connect that sucks i dont want to use any other program to download music i dont like LIMEWIRE can someone tell me what i can do to connect back

If Ares won’t connect and you’re using Windows XP SP2, your DNS cache may be full or have invalid entries. You can go to Start, Run, put in ipconfig /flushdns and then click Ok.
you can also put in ipconfig /flushdns at a command prompt, then press enter.
either way you do it, that will remove the DNS entries and should get you connected, if the problem was caused by the DNS cache.

I am not running any firewalls. I hav DSL connection and have Windows XP professional version 2002
tried installing/uninstalling older version and newer version still not connecting.
went to (ares) control panel > network > check connection.
it sais “test passed”
someone said to reduce anti virus secutity setting (NOD 32)
NOW does that work..i scared to reduce it…and it works how can I do it….and is it safe…
please help ..I am desparate
