All eyes on cheaper iPods

p2pnet.net News:- The Big News today is —–

—- the Second Coming of Apple’s iPod.

Or is it fourth or fifth?

It has a 6 gig hard-drive, as reported by Think Secret, recently, and pretty colours. And finally, Apple has improved the battery life.

But with other multi-functional players such as Sony’s PSP (a gamer’s hand-held that plays mp3s and also shows not just stills, but complete movies) breathing down its neck, Apple had to do something.

So now, for between $350 and $450, you can take your pictures with you and see them on a colour screen, also as Think Secret announced.

The pictures don’t move, though.

iPod has been, and still is, brilliantly marketed.

But when you get down to it, it’s just another portable music player.

Something you think we should know? tips[at]p2pnet.net

Just another portable music player? Uh uh!! We are talking about a lifestyle here. ;-)

The iPod is just another digital music player.
    Obviously.

Congratulations to Apple for creating a product and making people want it. Its a touchstone of the society/societies many of us live in.

I can’t quite see the news here – We can read the obvious press release about a rejigged-but-the-same product line at Apple.com, why are you regurgitating it here?

    Remind us all?

As the last comment noted – it IS a lifestyle. Insert “Product name” here is, generally just “product name” here. Promotion, marketing – they’re the key to what we want. We don’t have needs met by technology producers, they’re creating them for us to fill.

    With their products.
So…are you bitter or just naive?
