Grease: The Game
p2pnet view Games:- How could you make a wii game out of grease?
Even if it is the oldie movie starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta?
Well, “505 Games is overseeing development on the new project, which looks to be an all-singing, all-dancing party game”, says Kotaku.
Grease, the game, “takes advantage of both the Wii’s motion sensing controls and a microphone”, says the story.
“Players will finally be able to live the dream of singing alongside Danny, Sandy, The Pink Ladies and the T-Birds. You know, the dreams we all shared 30 years ago and then quickly grew out of?”
Grease, the original, was released in 1978, says the Wikipedia, adding:
“It was released in the US on VHS during the 1980s; the latest VHS release was June 23, 1998 as 20th Anniversary Edition following a theatrical re-release that March. On September 24, 2002, it was released on DVD for the first time. On September 19, 2006, it was re-released on DVD as the Rockin’ Rydell Edition, which includes a black Rydell High T-Bird jacket cover or the Target-exclusive Pink Ladies cover. It was released on Blu-Ray Disc on May 5, 2009.”
Now you know.

Apparently they’d originally planned to release a West Side Story game, but had to halt production after one of the testers stabbed his friend with the Wii-mote.

Grease == “one of my favorite movies”
Grease, The Game == “yet another (inept) attempt to repackage “classic” content, in the vain hope of milking yet more money from a “cash cow” that should have been dead decades ago.”
“Beatles; Rock Band” comes to mind.
More than anything else, shit like THIS is why copyright desperately needs to be either scaled back drastically, or abolished completely. If the multinational corporate megaliths weren’t still monopolizing/hoarding (oops, I mean “protecting”), cultural “product” from more than thirty years ago, maybe they’d actually put some thought into creating some good *new* stuff.
