Stephen Conroy, Oz Minister of Misinformation
p2pnet view P2P | Politics:- “There’s a staggering number of Australians … having their computers infected at the moment, up to 20,000, uh, can regularly be getting infected by these spams, or scams, that come through, the portal”, says Australia’s Australia’s Stephen ‘Filter’ Conroy (right) in a warning.
Do you think he’s been talking to America’s Ted ‘Pipes’ Stevens who once described the net as a series of tubes?
Except Stevens was talking about movies, not ’scams’.
But there’s more.
Conroy “continued his campaign of not necessarily getting his facts right yesterday by claiming on ABC News that if you were banking online when Google’s Streetview car came rolling by, it could have sucked up all your personal information”, says Gizmodo, going on to quote him as saying >>>
[If] you were doing a banking transaction, or transmitting personal information, they could have hoovered it up, sucked it up into their machine.
This would be funny in a sick kind of way were it not for the fact Conroy is the man fronting Australia’s digital economy plan and online censorship scam — sorry, scheme — on behalf of the Kevin Rudd government.
Australian technology group SAGE-AU was forced to issue a speedy statement correcting Conroy.
Conroy’s claims were misinformation “that verged on fear-mongering”, says spokesman Iain Robertson, adding:
“While it is clear Google’s Street View cars collected more data than necessary – a practice not condoned by SAGE-AU – Internet banking data is safe from collection due to the nature of the communications from web browsers to Internet banking servers.”
(Cheers, Filip)

Conroy is a complete idiot with absolutely no idea at all about that which he’s supposed to be making policy on. There are 6 years old that know more than him in relation to his portfolio. For instance this extremely technical statement justifying his actions in relation to filtering (without even realising that he’d be totally wrong even if he hadn’t totally messed up on basic terminology) :
“There’s a staggering number of Australians being in having their computers infected at the moment, up to 20,000 — uh — can regularly be getting infected by these spams or scams, that come through the portal,”
And this moron has been allowed by Labor to set policy relating to the internet? He gets his way it’ll be the inter-not. As one of the posters on that forum astutely recognises:
**- We all make light of this halfwit’s technology challenged drivel and are therefore guilty of downplaying the real threat of this moron.
Perhaps we should be a little more fearful of the capacity for this clown to cause economic and sociological chaos in this country. Yep… this in not your average village idiot, this fool has a position of political power and is very dangerous. Make sure the government knows it won’t get your vote and pray that you will get the opportunity to cast your vote in any other direction before anything this retard proposes can be ratified into law -**
