Harper blows $2,000,000 on a fake lake
p2pnet view P2P | Politics:- Under the shadow the worst deficit in Canadian history, prime minister Stephen Harper’s Conservatives are throwing money around like they have some.
But that’s YOUR money. Not theirs.
They’ve already squandered more than ONE BILLION DOLLARS on a mutual admiration love-in which’ll result in absolutely nothing.
And it’s being suggested the figure could ultimately hit $2 billion.
To really rub Canadians’ faces in it, Harper now wants to spend another $2 million on a fake lake.
When “pressed on the issue”, “These are marketing techniques that have been put forward by our best people to be able to showcase Canada, and that’s what we all want”, said foreign affairs minister Lawrence Cannon, according to CTV News.
“We want to be proud of what Canada represents and what we can do” —-
—- with people sleeping in the streets, families struggling to put food on the table and some First Nations living in appalling poverty conditions.
It’ll showcase Canada, alright. But not in a way anyone would want.
As this Reader’s Write says >>>
What a total waste. I’m pissed. Imagine how pissed off the people who got fined 250$ for adding 1/2 inch of water to their pools to keep their pumps working are?
But what does Harper care?
He’ll be kicked out in the next election, whenever that is.
Not that there’s anyone standing by who’s fit to lead the country in his place.
When’s the next Mars rocket due for take off?

Getting to Muskoka from Toronto takes about 2-1/2 hours, unless you have $1.9-million.
That’s the price tag on an indoor pavilion planned for the media centre at the G20 summit in Toronto, where an indoor lake and dock, complete with Muskoka chair and the soothing sounds of calling loons, will be built to give visiting journalists a taste of Canadian cottage country.
“We’re trying to make a memorable impression,” said Michael Lawley of Muskoka Tourism. “Is it expensive? Well, that’s the cost of doing business.”
Officials stress that the $1.9-million cost is split between the federal and provincial governments.
Dubbed the Canadian Corridor, the 20,000-square-foot exhibit will be built in the Direct Energy Centre at the Canadian National Exhibition before the G8 meeting in Huntsville on June 25 and 26, and the G20 in Toronto on June 26 and 27. By comparison, Bill Gates’ new mansion comprises about the same amount of living space.
About 2,000 reporters from around the world are expected to arrive in Canada to cover the summits, but only a pool of about 200 will travel to the Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka.

I have three words for these people: What…the…fuck?! Why would you wanna spend $2 million dollars on a friggin’ LAKE?! And to make things worse, that’s the peoples’ money, not their own! Why if I were in Canada, I would protest and make a petition to get these idiots out of office!

When you have little else going for you or an inability to develop a strong viable nation, you might as well try and look pretty!
