Bill Gates, honorary UK knight

p2pnet.net News:- It’s now official. Bill Gates is a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The Queen of England says so.

“Bill Gates has received an honorary knighthood from The Queen in a private ceremony held at Buckingham Palace on 2 March 2005,” says a statement on the Buckingham Palace web site.

“The honorary award recognizes Mr. Gates’ contributions to improving health and reducing poverty in parts of the Commonwealth and elsewhere in the developing world, as well as his contribution to enterprise, employment, education, and the voluntary sector in the United Kingdom.”

Previous US citizens receiving honorary knighthoods include former presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, ex-New York Mayor RudolphkGiuliani, and Bob Hope.

The Buck House page even has a link to Bill and Melinda’s personal web site.
