New ‘10 plus’ video game rating
p2pnet.net News:- Complaints about violent video games seem to have finally filtered through to the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) which has announced a new category under its content-based video game marking system
E10+ is supposed to give users, “more informed purchase decisions” based on the game’s content” that’s, “appropriate for ‘Everyone’ and content that is more suitable for people ages 10 and older,” says Game Cube Advanced.
In other words, kids under 10 are now protected against porno-violence features such as Rockstar’s San Andreas.
The story quotes ESRB president Patricia Vance as saying game titles that carry the E10+ rating, “might contain moderate amounts of cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language and/or minimal suggestive themes. Games appropriate for all ages will continue to receive an E (Everyone) rating”.
Only, “mild violence, mild language and/or minimal suggestive themes”?
That’s OK then.
“This isn’t being done for political pressure or any other reasons,” the Edmonton Sun has Vance saying. “This is really being done because we think the rating system can be improved and that the information that parents have will be better to make the right decisions.”

“In other words, kids under 10 are now protected against porno-violence features such as Rockstarâs San Andreas.”???
Why would they be citing GTA: San Andreas as kids being protected from it when there’s already Teen and Mature ratings and GTA is listed as Mature, Not E like this story makes it sound. If their parents are paying attention (yeah i know, probably not gonna happen, they’d rather sue someone else) they should already be protected since they are under 17.
