Quitting World of Warcraft

p2pnet view Games | Freedom | P2P:- When you check out the video below, bear this in mind:

Players who want to post on WoW, Diablo and the upcoming Starcraft II forums will have to log in using Blizzard’s Real ID system, “which will display their real full names next to every post they make”, says the EFF’s Eva Galperin on Deep Links.

“These changes will not be retroactive, meaning that the thousands of existing posts on the online discussion forums will not be affected”, she says, also noting:

“Parental controls will allow parents to prevent minors who have signed up for Real ID on the game from posting to the forums, if they so choose.

“Why is Blizzard taking such an unprecedented step? Unpleasantness.”

Says a p2pnet Reader’s Write, “With the recent RealID crap, just look here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrN76L2177s

“Yes, you can! quit the World of Warcraft too!”

Stay tuned.

real names? ohhh that’s so cool
I bet everyone will get in line to post there.. NOT!

also, believe it or not, never played an online game.
    ‘evah!

still stuck with my PS2 and the huge library it has :D

  2. P. Says:

So don’t post on the forums. No big deal.

    Um, wouldn’t 24,000 hours be 1000 days?

  4. Jaybarti Says:

And as quick as it started, they relent and say that RealID will not be required to use the forums. Players can now resume panicking about other things instead, such as what they are doing to the talent trees or how come someones gear is more sparkly then theirs.

I’d like to take some time to speak with all of you regarding our desire to make the Blizzard forums a better place for players to discuss our games. We’ve been constantly monitoring the feedback you’ve given us, as well as internally discussing your concerns about the use of real names on our forums. As a result of those discussions, we’ve decided at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.

still not too late to un-delete dude…

  7. Eric Says:

To quote a GM posting on Blizzard’s WoW forums:

“We would also like to remind all players that Real ID is a completely voluntary and optional service. Real ID may not be for everyone. If you do not wish to make use of the additional in-game features provided by Real ID, you don’t have to.”

The moment RealID becomes mandatory for the game, I am out. But what about the forum? If it defeats trolls, so much the better, but if people with legitimate complaints can’t be heard because of the sounds of unmasking, to me it really just means I won’t be posting on it.
