Google Music looms darkly
p2pnet view Music | P2P | Advertising:- As well as search-related activities, Google, the predatory American online advertising corporation, is also heavily into international politics and health care, among a huge raft of other ‘interests’.
It also already has a music site in China, and now it’s close to establishing one in the US, with frightening implications for anyone who cares about online privacy and freedom.
Picture this:
Google in bed with Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music and the likes of their RIAA, BPI, IFPI, etc and so on.
Think about it.
The company already has uncontrollable lust for user data.
Think about it again.
The pic on the right shows Doug Morris, Universal Music Group CEO (left), Google boss Eric Schmidt and Sony Music chief Rolf Schmidt-Holtz schmoozing at the the Vevo launch party.
Vevo, you’ll recall, was “built to help advertisers and content owners”. You? You’re the fool who’ll buy what you’re told. Like always.
“According to multiple music industry sources, Google could launch a music service that offers song downloads and streaming music as early as this fall”, said CNet News recently, going on, “Google is racing iTunes to be first with a cloud service.”
Now “Google has hired well known music attorney Elizabeth Moody to assist them with negotiations with music labels and other rights holders for their upcoming Google Music service”, says TechCrunch.
“Name partner Fred Davis, broadly known for representing nearly every digital music service over the last few years, recently started splitting his time to work with new investment bank CODE Advisors”, says the story, adding:
A former client emails ‘This is a really big deal. She and Fred did _everyones_ deal. That is a great hire for Google. The flipside is that I interpret this as another nail in the coffin for music startups ‘ … ”
Not only but also, there are still people out there, including kids and others who don’t know any better, who believe Google does no evil. If it starts distributing music, they’ll be flooded with all kinds of formulaic, cookie-cutter corporate bilge, interspersed with a few offerings from indie labels and artists to make it look legit.
Stay tuned.
