Cell phone firms attack Apple’s Jobs

p2pnet view Mobiles:- Some cellphone makers have all-but called Apple boss Steve Jobs a liar for trying to minimise iPhone 4 reception problems by saying they’re part of an industry-wide phenomenon.

“Yesterday the Telegraph reported that RIM and Nokia hit back at Apple’s defence of iPhone 4 and now Samsung, HTC and Motorola have all condemned Mr Jobs for saying that the antenna issue affecting the iPhone 4 is ‘a challenge for the whole industry’,” it says, going on:

“During a press conference at Apple’s Californian headquarters on Friday, Mr Jobs attempted to highlight the reception deficiencies of phones made by RIM, Samsung, HTC and Nokia, showing ‘evidence’ from the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, and Samsung Omnia II.”

The Telegraph has RIM co-chief executives Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsille stating:

“Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation.”

Be that as it may, Jobs has “saved his company more than a billion dollars”, reported p2pnet on Saturday, adding >>>

He’s ‘fixed’ the iPhone 4 death grip problem without having to issue a recall.

“Apple fans must be ecstatic”, emails p2pnet regular Andrew AKA Comeoncomcast, linking to a Big Pond story.

In the wake of passionate Apple denials that the iPhone 4 even has an antenna failing that causes serious reception problems, the company is promising what amounts to an iPhone 4  condom  ‘free’ to users who disagree.

“The more than 3 million people who have bought the iPhone 4 and new buyers through September 30 will all be eligible” for iPhone 4 protective cases says Big Pond .

However, “One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry to maintain proper connectivity”, say Lazaridis and Balsille in the Telegraph item.

  1. RIAA Hater Says:

I have spoken to people who have the iPhone 4 and they said the problem is not that bad and they have no plans to “fix” it.

  2. Anonymous Says:

I really wish Steve hadn’t done that demo. Because it made the situation worse. Surely he knew that they were going to attack! Just quit being a bunch of babies and make good phones! Jeez!
