Microsoft chops MSN for OS X
p2pnet.net News:- Microsoft is virtually discontinuing its MSN for Mac OS X software, says CNET News.
"Beginning May 31, Microsoft will make changes and no longer support the MSN for Mac OS X Internet Software client," CNET quotes a Microsoft e-mail as saying, going on:
“A Microsoft representative declined to say how many people subscribe to MSN for the Mac, but said it is "a small number."
Microsoft’s deal with Qwest means it’s required to offer Internet access to Mac users and therefore, “customers will still be able to buy $22-a-month Internet access from Microsoft,” says CNET.
“However, the company will not offer any local software and customers will have to log on using the Mac’s built-in Internet Connect dialer.”
Microsoft will still allow people to,”pay for a collection of browser-based MyMSN services, including 2GB of Hotmail storage, Encarta Premium and Money Plus.,” says the story, adding, “In theory, customers can continue to pay Microsoft between $10 and $27 a month for that option.”

Microsoft views OS X as a high rival. OS X is basically unix/linux with a very good GUI. If redhat would develop a similar UI for the x86 based arch, then windows would go byebye quickly. The only saving grace that microsoft has is broad software support and broad hardware support, give real GUI support tot he PC on linux, and windows risks all the cards.

apple sucks anyway. always has – always will. much worse than windows.
prof. tech around the globe – and several i know personally – say that apples are the worst computers and software to have. and that the stupid ipods are also terrible, especially because they have many conflicts with windows.
stay away from apples. they’re rotten to the core.

yeah macs look good on the store shelves with all their bubblegum colors, but when you get them home, forget about it. they’re terrible and don’t support a lot of peripherals or other hardwares and softwares.
parents buy them for their kids off the shelf because hollywood says they should – when they product-place them in almost every teen movie and tv show.
yeah, they really suck.

I’ve pluged so many different USB periphials, without OSX drivers, and just tossed the PC disks away – people don’t know what plug ‘n’ play is until they use a periphial (USB or firewire, made in the last 4 years) on a macintosh.
As a Network Admin, for Mac & PC’s I can honestly say that there are some things the Mac does do better – namely Plug ‘n’ Play. Their limitations come in the form of proprietry data handling software for certain bits of hardware. Something that is not made as huger issue as it could be by an innumerable amount of small, concise and effective shareware apps that do it all, anyway.
The worst thing is the ‘cult of apple’. By maintaining such a strong control of hardware and software, their machines are elevated by pointless asthetics and the general elite smugness that the pricetag & prettiness induces.
But to refer back to the story – why would you want MSN? Thats like desire for an AOL client.

Isn’t there a Trillion or similar client for the Mac that will take care of this? Oh wait, this blog is old.
