Sony uses Net for PSP launch

p2pnet.net News:- Given that Sony is a founding member of both the Big Seven movie studio and Big Four record label cartels which are trying to sue Netsters into buying ‘product’, it’s interesting to see it’s chosen the Net as a principal prong of its PSP mobile gamer advertising campaign.

The PSP (PlayStation Portable ) is slated to hit the market on March 24 and Sony Computer Entertainment plans to start the ad blitz next week, says Online Media Daily.

Against it are Nintendo’s DS portable console, on sale since last November in the US and March 11 in the UK. And because the PSP has mp3, W-Fi and movie playing capabilities, it’ll seriously tempt people who might otherwise have contemplated buying an Apple iPod singleton.

The online component focuses on the PSP launch title lineup, which includes “Twisted Metal: Head On,” a combat driving game; several sports titles; “WipEout Pure,” and “Ape Escape: On the Loose,” says the story, going on:

“The ads will go live just prior to the product’s launch, and will run through early May. They will be placed on a number of entertainment and technology sites, such as IGN.com, GameSpot.com, Gizmodo.com, ComedyCentral.com, and MTV2.com. The ads will feature interactive and streaming video capabilities, demonstrating the PSP’s graphics and interface.”

  1. Reader's Write Says:

The DS also features WiFi and can play Mp3s and movies! In fact the DS was just announced to be be able to hook up to the internet via your home wireless network… or any wireless network for that matter.

To play movies on a DS just buy a GBA movie player, with the DS’s stereo sound, it will sound real nice… and to play MP3s in a simmilar way… just but the cartige that you plug a flash card into so you can load from the computer… these arn’t lisenced by nintendo yet, but they have plans to in the near future, and thats better than the Propriatory movies that people have to by for the PSP that cost $20 and only work on the psp >_>
