And that means the sea level could rise by around 25 centimeters (close to a foot) by 2100, and average temperatures could climb by at least a half degree Celsius, says Tom Wigley, a researcher at the agency and an author of one of the studies released today.
"A worst-case scenario predicts a 30-centimeter rise in sea level and a world temperature rise of 3.5 degrees Celsius," says CNET News.
But even if greenhouse gas levels had stabilized five years ago, global temperatures would still increase by about half a degree by the end of the century and sea level would rise some 11 centimeters (close to 4.4 inches), states Gerald Meehl , quoted in Scientific American.
"Many people don’t realize we are committed right now to a significant amount of global warming and sea level rise because of the greenhouse gases we have already put into the atmosphere," says Meehl of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado.

Can I suggest that you get the facts from Michael Crichton’s new book “State of Fear”. The climate change predictions are a gigantic hoax designed by the “greens” to push their far left agenda. The sooner we ramp up our use of SUVs, and bring back leaded gasoline, the better it will be for America, and what’s good for America is good for the world.

To add to your hope what about that this year China took over as the world leader in oil purchasing and is expected in just a few short years to have more cars on the road than the US and europe dropping us in to third place in the race and India is by statistics in oil sales and new car production to be shortly behind China’s heals further dropping europe’s and the US’s growing rates of use even further back down into the ranks. To bolster it further most new emerging modernizing nations want to excel to the same methods that they have watched and learned from. As far as hydrogen fueled vehicles its quite a program seeing as though you need about 30 major nuclear reactor projects to supply hydrogen which a fair amount of government likes the estimated program for putting the hydrogen powered cars on the road at a starting building pace and thats just a start so if your a nuclear powered plant lover and want them and a mass of others to provide energy in our country and then probably there after in the rest of the world GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Governments and investors need to start supporting companies that are trying to make clean energy. Daystar Solar is currently the only company that is publicly traded on the stock market that has a chance of producing efficient panels. Daystar is traded under the symbol DSTI.
Why aren’t investors looking more seriously at solar power? If we don’t start investing now in solar panels as a clean source of energy, it’s just foolish.

Over ten years ago in university, my professors were already expressing grave concerns about global warming. Even at the time, a majority of the scientific community (people who study climate for a living), were VERY concerned. Now 10 year later, it is coming as a “suprise” to general population that global warming is an issue.
Global warming has been one of the most downplayed significant event in the history of humanity (and potentially the world). It has been supressed primarily by 1st world countries protecting their economies. Big money controls the media content. Most of the ‘global warming is a sham’ arguments are crafted by ‘oil company commissioned studies’. Ever wonder why, when 95% of scientist researching climate agree ‘there is a problem’, the 5% that disagree get 95% of the media coverage?
Anyone who has studied the earth knows that “yes” fluctuations have happened in the past. However, the current findings are showing unprecidented fluctuations that directly correlate with industrialization of the planet. In the history of the earth, there has NEVER been a fluctuation so large, so fast. NEVER.
While no science is 100% perfect, even a monkey can see the parallel and draw a reasonable conclusion. Even if there is a 1% chance that 95% of the scientific community is wrong, wouldn’t it make sense to be pro-active now and stop emmissions until science can DISPROVE that global warming is an issue?
Think about it. Imagine being on ship that had a hole in the side and was taking on water. Now imagine, 95% of highly trained ‘boat inspectors’ agree that “yes the ship will sink”. Would you want to listen to the other 5% and not patch the hole? That is exactly what we are doing as a planet.
It amuses me to no end that the general population is so ’skeptical’ of the scientific research. Somehow ever person that has read a small news article against global warming, is suddenly a better ‘expert’ than the 95% of the scientific community. And somehow, like the above fellow, they all have the knowledge required to evaluate scientific papers on climate model research and say “I don’t believe it”. Lets grab a brain (or borrow one from the monkey) while there are still things on the planet with brains.

You are totally right. In the early 50’s a diabolical plan was created the the E.W.S.G. (Evil Weenie Scientest Group) to create a ficticious phenomina called “global warming’ with the sole intenet to do away with CARS!
I challenge you to do farm work when the fields are all deserts and to tow a pleasure boat when there is no fresh water. Who is not living “in the real world”? Although I doubt you could have less education, I think you could get in line with those ‘weenie scientist’ to gain some extra ’smarts’.

This is America, free speech especially when warranted with expert correct findings is what we fought for from the time of the great revolt from the old world and the American Revolution and are constitution protects us to do what is right and it must be said and done in times of need, I commend you for writing such an accurate picture of how money is blood to the people who should know better and however are so lost in their lust of power and greed do not have the intelligence to believe in science what a SHAME ON THEM!

I think you think he’d better be joking, but I think naught. WE are at a critical point. This whole “thing” is unbelievable. Now we are noticing oil prices going up, where have we all been over the last 30 years? Now we are noticing the damage to the environment and may I add only when it affects “us” do we perk our ears.
I have always said that if we would only put our energy and resources into creating ways to use renewable resources will be have a chance on this planet, it would create jobs (hello) and it would give us a direction that might unite us as well as allow us to continue this experiment in humanity. Amen,,,, and may i add cause and effect.

I agree. I’ve done a fair amount of statistical research on temperature variation and while it’s often possible to find larger naturally occuring variations to the ones we’re experiencing there’s also always been climatological or geological factors that affected. Global temperature levels do not flutctuate randomly. Only one of the university professors I worked with supported the ‘natural variation’ theory and even he had to eventually backtrack for reason above.
And another thing for all those ’suspicious’of the scientific evidence: The people who claim that global warming is not man made or not a problem have certain things in common: (1) invariably they are in the pay of or directly funded by industries that have a lot to lose from environmental protection. (2) they consistently fail to mention that natural variation in temperatures can still be immensely dangerous (think of the ice age) and they ignore the fact that our emmisions can affect this significantly. So let’s say it’s not our fault – insanely unlikely, but let’s say. It’s still our house that’s burning. You can sit in there and say it’s not your fault, or you can get a bucket of water and do something. (3) The number of dissneters is steadfily going down as the evidence piles up. The latest study published a month ago, showed that temperature is rising quickly not just in the atmosphere but also in the ocen. There is no way that can happen without a genuine rise in the whole ecosystem’s temperature. Oceanic temperatures do not vary easily like the atmosphere. They change very slowly and with great difficulty. This thing is real and if we don’t wake up it’s going to kill our grandchildren.

Remember, there is a Creator (Yahweh). He will correct things once it is proven that man cannot rule himself. He gave specific rules which provided an environmentally friendly society. He told us not to eat certain critters such as crabs, oysters, etc. These unclean critters do much to consume the pollutants found in waters today. Yes, these pollutants also grow bacteria that produces Green House gasses.
He also gave commandments dealing with the restoration of the land such as the Land Sabbath. He also provided a way for the poor to be able to eat without placing a burden on society. His rules about the transfer of land use, Jubilees, and debt also put a brake on the cartels growth of power at the expense of people. His rules about the treatment of animals also promote the growth of the environment. What these scientists state have been demonstrated many times in Scripture. Only in Scripture, the environmental changes are called by other names. The society that follows His rules is one that is proserous and does not destroy the environment. Yahweh and Yeshua will cause the worls to be restored once man begins to learn his lesson.
