Hollywood enforcer drops a bollock
p2pnet view Movies:- GVU, the MPAA’s inept German ‘enforcement’ agency, and OpSec Security, which claims to be the “global leader in providing anti-counterfeiting and brand protection solutions to governments and corporations”, have their feet in their mouths and egg all over their very red faces.
Mario Sixtus is a popular German IT journalist.
Andreas Lehmann is an equally popular German video artist who rose to fame with “Du bist Terrorist” in which he critises the German government, saying peoples’ privacy is being steadily eroded.
Partnered by OpSec Security, GVU (Gesellschaft zur Verfolgung von Urheberrechtsverletzungen), recently ordered Vimeo to take down certain items alleged to have been infringing copyrights.
Vimeo did what it was told but among the deleted videos were five from Sixtus and Lehmann —-
—- all under CC licenses.
Gosh, sorry, say OpSec Security and GVU. It was all, well, um, er, a big mistake.
Stay tuned.
