MIT yanks dodgy Fiorina stories
p2pnet.net News:- MIT’s Technology Review has retracted two stories by New York-based freelancer Michelle Delio, both critical of ex-HP boss Carly Fiorina and featuring quotes from an anonymous HP employee.
Jason Pontin, editor-in-chief, “ordered the articles removed on March 7 from the website after receiving a complaint from HP officials,” says the Associated Press. “The stories were posted in Feb. 10 and March 4. Neither appeared in a print version.”
HP launched an inquiry to find an employee who matched the description of Delio’s source, says AP.
But, “No record was found of any person with those initials,” said spokesman Michael Burk. Nor was HP able to find an employee with a similar background and work record, says the report, adding:
“Delio did provide the name of her source, and claimed he belonged to two professional organizations. However Pontin said both organizations said the man’s name was not on their membership list.
“Pontin said he was not accusing Delio of fabrication, but said, ‘The stories are inaccurate. I do not vouch for them. I do not stand by them’,” adds AP.

I think that the writer, Michelle Delio, is full of crap. Have you seen how many articles she wrote for wired mag? She faked the story and is making MIT take the fall for her. I’ve read that magazine, it’s like popular mechanics for really smart people. It will never be a mainstream magazine, they should drop that idea. Outside of MIT, people are just not that smart. I’ve never heard of Jason Pointin, but you have to wonder why they hired someone who all ready destroyed one mag, Red Herring. For a group of unbelievably smart people, looks like they hired an idiot.
