Are YOU an accidental pirate?

p2pnet view Movies:- “An Amazing Revelation! 1 in 3 Australians are Accidental Pirates!”

Yes indeedy.

This schlock-horror news, and the quotes, come from the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation, yet another fake Hollywood outfit backed by the MPAA and purporting to be a genuine association created by genuine interests to address a genuine problem.

“34% of Australians who commit acts of piracy don’t understand that they’re pirates,” it says, in a hilarious Q&A video in which viewers are asked questions purpose-designed to incriminate them.

Then they give details of themselves by entering a ‘contest’ to win a DVD.

Want to find out if you’re a scurvy, file sharing pirate? No worries, sport.

“Join our national campaign online to find out if you are one of the 1 in 3 Australians who are involved in piracy and find out how you can get involved to make a difference”, says the site.

Because “We’re launching a new blog and twitter account that will bring you closer to the Australian film & TV industry. Bringing you interviews from the unseen backstage voices of the industry, some interesting snippits of infomation and a deeper look inside this great Australian industry.

“Join us online this September for one of the greatest debates of our time.”

Wowza!!!!

The IPAF is a “film and television industry initiative that serves to promote and protect the value of the industry by raising awareness, understanding and appreciation of intellectual property and its role and value in society”.

8-)

(Cheers, Filip)

And the other 2 do it intentionally.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

    that ad was laughable.

Interesting site. However, I wouldn’t want to find out if I’m a pirate. I’d probably click on NO simply because I think I’m doing nothing wrong. Anything on the internet is fair game. If you want to protect something you need to protect it before it becomes available online. If you don’t like how things are run then technology needs to improve. I’m just sick and tired of reading about copyright. Oh well, that’s business for you.
