UK Music will Rule! – UK Music

p2pnet view Music:- Time for the music and technology industries to “set aside their differences and strive instead toward a common goal”, says Feral Sharkey (right), front man for Big 4 could organised music cartel lobby group, UK Music.

And that would be?

“Nothing less than the total global domination of British music”, says Thinq.co.uk.

Not only but also, “You can’t democratize genius”, he’s quoted as saying.

Um, er, Yes, well ..

Anyway, the “former pop star” called “dramatically for the mobilization of British music and technology producers”, says the story, continuing

“By 2020. We. Want. To rival. The United States. As the largest. Source of repertoire. And artistry. In. The. World.”

“In short,” he said, “We want to be number one”, according to Thinq.co.uk

“The music industry scored a controversial success in April when the last government passed the Digital Economy Act, which would sanction the removal of people’s internet connections if they were suspected of sharing copyrighted music online”

This had “helped restore the equilibrium between creativity and technology that had, said Sharkey, been out of kilter”, the story states, adding:

“It was but a single ’stepping stone’ toward the music industry’s goal of having people ‘remunerated for their talent time, effort and ability’.”

If you’re not sure how artists are presently remunerated, UK law firm Wiggins LLP recently produced the chart below to clarify the situation.

This just sums up the arrogance of the UK music industry perfectly. Feargal Sharkey is talking complete nonsense again.

Why the hell does it matter to Technology companies if the British Music Industry dominates the world? Even if the British Music Industry collapsed, the tech companies would still exist and they’d have to deal with far less red tape.

The British Music Industry didn’t do anything to help the British Technology Industries to dominate the world. In fact, the Wi-Fi killing provisions of the Digital Economy Act ensures that other countries will overtake us.

Technology is an increasingly essential part of everyday life. Music is just nice to listen to. It isn’t essential in any way, shape or form. And these days, music is abundant. It is perfectly possible to go through life and keep yourself entertained, legally, without paying a single penny for music.

Does Sharkey seriously expect ISPs to say, “Oh well, all our customers have been disconnected because of the Digital Economy Act, we can no longer operate as a business, but none of that matters because Cheryl Cole’s just reached #1 in Paraguay!”

In a war between music and technology, there can only be one winner – and it won’t be music.

I feel so strongly about this that I haven’t purchased any music since the Digital Economy Act became law.

Are you calling Vivendique Univers-Sale music?

No. This is not a war between “music and technology” it is a war between an handful of corporations of parasites and technology.

The parasites will be eradicated without doubt since the society can not afford them. Let’s bring the pest killer.

Feargal Sharkey the face of the music industry!

Whooo! He look like the Dr Frankenstein monster!
