Here comes the iPez !
p2pnet.net News:- At the moment, the nearest Pez candy dispensers come to digital is the fact you use your finger to get the candy out.
Now, however, look out iPod because Pat hopes soon to be selling a $129 Pez mp3 player.
Will it be called the iPez?
Be that as it may, the first version will be 512mb, there’ll be six buttons along one of the skinny sides, it’ll have an LCD screen AND (the Killer option) the head will be removeable and compatible with existing PEZ heads.
The first production run will be early summer, says Pat, continuing that his Pez mp3 dispenser supports mp3, WMA, OGG, USB 2.0, mounts as flash drive.
And NO – it won’t be compatible with Napster to Go, it won’t have Bluetooth and you definitely won’t be able to listen to FM or use it as a recorder.
The iPez will initially be sold here.
So who’s Pat?

About Me
By Pat
I am a stay-at-home dad with three young sons and a small company called Lincoln West Studio. When I say small, I really mean it’s just me. In July 2004, I read a story about a guy who turned an Altoid’s tin into a set of iPod speakers. It got me thinking.
It took a few months to get PEZ on board. And now here we are.
I don’t know if it is really possible for a guy working out of his basement to pull this off, but I’m going to give it a try. All I ask is that you be a little patient with me. I’m one of those jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none types of guys. If you think you know more than I do about something, you are probably right.
I’ll promise to listen to your input and learn from you as much as I can if you promise to tell me what you think.
Something you think we should know? tips[at]p2pnet.net

Hat’s off to Pat. This is how to innovate. One guy, a vision, and willing to accept input. Here’s hoping he doesn’t turn to the dark side as we’ve seen with so many in the past.

When I was a kid, I never did see what all the fuss was about, so I figured I would try PEZ to see it was really something. A really high quality candy, or really flavorful. So clutching my allowance, I headed for the store. I arrived and made my purchase.
I headed to my treehouse (2 floors, but thats another story) and opened my newly aquired candy, in anticipation of a mothful of flavor.
Boy was I disappointed. It takes like a fruit flavored lifesaver and a glass of water at the same time. I was after flavor and theselittle rectangular candies didn’t deliver. I never bought them again until a few years ago and decided I would give them one more chance. Still tasted watered down. I know there are those out there that collect all the little dispensers and they are the driving force behind the candy, but I have never fallen for the hype, and never will.

But didn’t Sony get a trademark on the letter “I”? Or was that the letter “I” with any other characters behind it? I forget.
I think they patended anything that’s pod shaped too…

I’m not really sure when the Minty came into being but maybe I will send an email to him and ask rather than just assume that I know.
