Yotoshi now sucks
p2pnet.net News:- If you remember Smash`s Yotoshi (he put it on eBay, a while, back and it was knocked down for $7K), you might have been wondering what happened to it.
Rob over at Eugene Freaks wondered the same thing and sent us a link to the results of his musings.
In a sentence, “Yotoshi BitTorrent Search Engine Now Sucks,” he says
“I have to say that I really enjoyed the bit torrent search engine ‘Yotoshi’ for a while.”
Rob runs torrent tracker with a local focus at Eugene Freaks and, “I accidentally stumbled across it [Yotoshi ] for sale on eBay not too long ago, (I think it went for around $10,000 but I don’t remember exactly) and hadn’t visited for awhile.
“Yesterday I checked it out and couldn’t figure out what the hell the site was doing with Firefox. F10 in OS X showed me that it was opening popunders in Firefox (I have popups blocked)!
“Not only that but it was recommending that if the site was not working for me (which it wasn’t – I couldn’t click into the character string entry field to validate my search) that I should try an alternative web browser.
“That’s a little ironic since the site advertises that they have a Firefox search plugin (which I had used successfully in the past but no longer). Safari won’t work with the site either.
“I sure as hell am not even gonna try IE. It’s a shame, I wish the old owner and creator the best of luck.
“As for Yotoshi, it’s been deleted from my bookmarks and so has its Firefox search plugin. Onward and upward Yotoshi! I smell greed.”

“Update: I managed to speak with Smash, original creator of Yotoshi, and he confirmed that the popunder and other various ads are indeed new. The final selling eBay price for Yotoshi was apx. $7000.
“Time to recoup that investment eh?
“Aaargh!”
So does Rob spend a lot of time hanging around eBay ; )
Not really, although, “I do confess to occasionally seeing what freakish items I can dig up there,” he told us.
That’s how he found the priceless Cthulhu Wonder Woman.

Hey this is Tyrant, Yotoshi’s new owner, if you can get in touch with me I would like to tlak with you aobut how to improve the site. Actually the only people who cant use the site are form banned IPs meaning either someone was trying to hack into the site or was trying to abuse the sites bandwidth by using it as a scrape. you can email me at Tyrantbuilt[at]yahoo.com anytime, all comments are welcome I really am interested in making this better not worse.

I used to use Yotoshi all the time. Now I don’t even have it in my bookmarks any more. Well done, smash.
