Buffett, Gates, on China jaunt
p2pnet view Off Topic:- Question: What was zillionaire Warren Buffett (left) doing in China, recently?
Answer: He was there with fellow zillionaire Bill Gates (right) of Microsoft fame to “to share ideas about philanthropy”, says MIC Gadget.
Not only but also, “Buffett has scheduled to visit BYD’s plants in Shenzhen, Huizhou and Changsha, followed by a trip to Beijing where he has co-hosted a charity banquet with Microsoft founder Bill Gates”, says the story.
Buffett has “profited handsomely from a 10 percent stake it owns in BYD, which has jumped nearly seven times in value since he purchased it for US$230 million in 2008″, it observes, adding:
“Buffett, 80, the world’s third-richest man with a fortune estimated by US magazine Forbes at US$47 billion. BYD invited him to Shenzhen for a signing ceremony that will see the company build an energy storage power station with power grid, and a celebration to mark the sale of its 1-millionth car. Buffett praised Shenzhen for taking the lead in using electric vehicles as taxis to reduce pollution. BYD shipped its first batch of all-electric cars, E6, earlier this year and all of them were used as taxis in Shenzhen.
“During the end of the ceremony, Buffett performed singing on the stage, and Bill Gates also joined him to visit the factory plants.”
