Music File Share Top Ten

p2pnet.net Feature:- We started running a p2pnet File Share Top Ten last year. Based on statistics from p2p research firm Big Champagne, it lists the most-downloaded mp3s in the US.

Big Champagne’s home page gives a weekly Top Ten list which includes both download and search activity.

Our BC FSTT lists only deal only with downloads.

Go here if you’d like a few words on how the stats are put together.

COMING SOON =====> The p2pnet / Big Champagne Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards!

(Note: If a song is out of the charts for two weeks or more and returns, it’s designated ‘New’.

    Again…it’s only the top ten.
If this site ‘knows’ what goes on, why do they not have a search by ranking?
It would be cool to know how the Beatles are doing.
But this site is obviously controlled somehow, otherwise they would have that info.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

    Hey Dave:

It’s not ‘controlled’ believe me. Do you think I’d put something like that up? : )

“As to Big Champagne’s methodology, we’re not basing these charts off of search activity, but rather the proliferation of files on public p2p over time, which we measure very accurately. (We also measure search activity and use that information in other contexts, but the charts on p2pnet.net are based on what we observe – it’s simply ‘what we see.’)”

Hey Jon! Thanx for the reply. But my question is this….if BigChamagne knows the top ten, why can they not go further?
If they have the recources to put up a ‘top ten’ chart, why can’t they go further, beyond the ‘top ten’.
I’ve been on there site, and it’s all top ten.
Top ten is fine, but I have to question why they DO NOT KNOW how many times the Beatles have been downloaded. Or anything else beyond the ‘top ten’.
The ‘top ten’ downloads are a product of the record companies.
If people are downloading it, then I must buy it.
I know you trust Big Champage, but I’m sure that they have basically sold out.
Otherwise they would offer more than ‘ten’

  4. Reader's Write Says:

They’re a company, and that’s where they make money. They give the top ten away, and sell everything else. Bet you could pay them to tell you about the Beatle$! ;)

  5. Reader's Write Says:

Yip…that’s where they make money, alright!
