Apple turns Tiger loose
p2pnet.net News:- Apple’s Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” will start appearing on shelves on April 29, says the company.
And, surprise surprise, it even includes a desktop search function, as well as Dashboard, “a new way to instantly access important information like weather forecasts and stock quotes, using a dazzling new class of applications called widgets”.
Arlo Rose points out that Dashboard bears a remarkable resemblance to his Konfabulator.
Be that as it may, Tiger also has an RSS reader.
It’ll be going out for a suggested retail price of $129 for a single user license.
Looking for maximum returns, Apple is also treating families like corporations.
“The Mac OS X Tiger Family Pack is a single-residence, five-user license that will be available for a suggested retail price of $199 (US),” it says, going on, “The standard Mac OS Up-To-Date upgrade package is available to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after April 12 for a shipping and handling fee of $9.95 (US).”
Tiger calls for a minimum of 256MB of memory and Macs with a PowerPC G5, G4, or G3 processor and built-in FireWire.
