MS ‘critical flaw’ updates
p2pnet.net News:- Microsoft has now released information on a number of ‘critical’ [meaning hackers could tap them] security problems.
Yesterday was D-Day for the SP XP2 auto-update 75% of companies in a recent survey said they didn’t want, and it was also the day Bill and the Boyz said they’d let us now more about serious security holes they knew existed but hadn’t detailed.
The eight security patches yesterday included five to fix critical holes in Windows, Internet Explorer, Exchange Server, MSN Messenger and Microsoft Word.
The carefully phrased ‘critical’ item for MSN Messenger reads, “We strongly encourage all users to upgrade to the newly released MSN Messenger 7.0 to take advantage of enhancements that help protect users from malicious attacks. We also have updated version 6.2 to help protect version 6 users who would prefer to evaluate version 7.0 before installing.”
