Phil Goldman passes away
Phil Goldman, ceo of the Mailblock SPAM-blocking email service and a founder of WebTV Networks, died on Christmas evening at the age of 39.
He’s survived by his wife, Susan, and two children, as well as his parents, and two brothers.
Before Mailblocks, Goldmanspent more than 20 years in technology and consumer service development. Most recently, he was vp of advanced TV services at Microsoft.
"Phil was a technology visionary, entrepreneur and prolific inventor," says an announcement on the Mailblock site. "His passion was simplifying technology and making it useful for consumers. This was the focus of his career at Apple Computer, General Magic, WebTV Networks, Microsoft, and most recently Mailblocks."
With 19 US patents issued and many more pending, Goldman was a graduate of Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and served as the chair of the university?s Computer Science department advisory council.
He was also on the board of directors of BraveKids, a charitable organization using computers and the Internet to aid the families of children with chronic or life threatening illnesses, to which donations may be made instead of flowers.
