Not that there’s ever been any doubt as to whether the entertainment industry cartels would adopt p2p. The only question was, and still, is: When will their interest become ‘official’ and how much damage will they wreak through their RIAAs, MPAAs, IFPIs, BPIs, etc, before they accept the inevitable?
In the meanwhile, “I’ve spoken with several movie producers in the last month,” says Cerf in the ZDNet post.
But he was “adamant” the entertainment industry still doesn’t understand the online environment, stating, “They are only just now starting to come to honest grips with the possibilities of using the Internet.

Even if they start running their own low-fee trackers with high quality encodes I will not use them unless they avoid proprietary (and exceedingly low quality) formats like WMV and RM.
Xvid has always been more universal with better quality, so long as you used avisynth.
Too many people know nothing about avisynth and it’s powerful array of filters which best quicktime pro and possibly even final cut pro. IF theyre going to compete with the pirate sect which theyve spent years hardening against them they’ll have to hire some of their encoders, otherwise i can imagine the terrible failure their big blocky wmv files will be.
