Deaf Google
p2pnet view P2P:- “Google’s legal counsel for the Benelux: ‘Customers should not bitch about it. You can always leave, right’?”
That’s the first line in a Reader’s Write in our post on Gargle’s abysmal failure to properly or adequately answer a Sneak View victim’s concerns about its product.
Forget about the fact it was about eight months late with its response.
The comment goes on >>>
Dutch Google legal counsel for the Benelux Jeroen Schouten (formerly legal counsel at telco KPN and provider XS4ALL) appears to have used the Dutch word “zeiken“, which essentially means “to bitch about something” when talking about customers who want to have guarantees that sensitive corporate data remains within Europe. Google obviously will not give those guarantees and thus Schouten stated during a recent conference about IT & Law:
“Google has a simple view on this. We are not offering a villa which you can decorate yourself, but a decorated apartment within our flat instead. That will provide you with every advantage of the cloud at discount prices. Our menu is limited, but you can always leave, right? As such you shouldn’t bitch about it.”
Competitors Microsoft and Amazon do offer European clouds, guaranteeing that the data will remain within the EU.
Attendees were shocked. “Google has perfectly taken over the arrogance Microsoft used to have,” a lawyer states who wants to remain anonymous. “I am shocked that a company is treating both its existing and potential customers in such a way. Google is deaf to the wishes from the market and is patronizing,” another person says.
What else is new? It’s patronising and deaf to everyone, governments included.
“Detailed Dutch language article: Google Refuses To Keep Data In Europe http://webwereld.nl/nieuws/105348/google-weigert-data-in-europa-te-houden.html“, adds the Reader’s Write.
Stay tuned.

It’s not in the American governments best interest to store the Dutch people’s private data in in the Netherlands. That would be so unAmerican and out of jurisdiction of secret court orders.
