Oops -- I wasn't trying to use the term in the left/right meaning, or as in the "Liberal" party in Canada (who are the strongest parliamentary proponents of what we are opposing), but as in "liberal democracy".

As to voting in alternatives, our antiquated First Past the Post electoral system is a huge influence against positive change. Canada and the USA are in a minority of countries still using this antiquated system

I'm a conservative, and I don't want legal protection for DRM. What is passing as a "conservative" movement in the Police States of America is not true conservatism. True conservatism is a system based on well established, traditional moral values. This is not what is happing in the government of the P.S.A. (a.k.a. United States of America) today.

These so-called conservative have been working to concentrate more and more power into the hands of the government and cartels. These "Conservatives" state they are against people being on welfare, however things become radically different when it is the big corporations receiving the welfare. Of course it is no longer called welfare. It now becomes grants, subsidies, and tax breaks. Actually it doesn't matter which half of the Rublican-Democrat party currently controls the congress and presidency, the policies generally remain the same.

We will see change on America, Canada, many other countries when we stop voting for the major political parties and start voting for the alternatives. The cartels always finance the parties (major) that they believe have the best chance of winning. If we stop helping the horses (parties) they bet on win, then maybe we will be able to cash in ourselves.
