---If the site were to be seen by the 'masses' rather than by an interested few then it would obviously be an excellent site---

A lot of people believe the issues centering on p2p and file sharing are fairly narrow and limited to the way studio, record label and software cartels are doing business. Or failing to. But that's not the case. Eventually, the p2p debate, and the way p2p is used, will have a deep-felt effect on the manner in which anything and everything that can be digitized is handled and distributed on- and offline.

And that's saying a lot : )

I believe p2pnetdailynews will have a lot of value for a lot of people across a lot of apparently disperate interest groups.

And by virtue of the fact it'll be run by editors with widely differing mind-sets, over time, it should also present a really interesting range of extremely valuable content.

Cheers!

The only thing that spoils this idea is that the big four don't have any cogent arguments. Like so many capitalist organisations, if something is happening which they don't agree with then they will cugel it to death. The more they say among 'enlighted' people, the more stupid they look. It would be a better idea if the two sides were both able to argue with some grasp on reality, but because of the intransigent attitudes of the 'industry' I'm afraid that it will merely become a further illustration of their bombastic attitudes. If the site were to be seen by the 'masses' rather than by an interested few then it would obviously be an excellent site. However, as it will be read by only those who are specifically interested in the subject I sadly don't believe that it can achieve much.

It will be fun and interesting to see sites like boycott-riaa.com and recordingartistscoalition.com under the same roof. Not that RAC would deign so low as to be associated in any way with THAT sort of rabble. That might somehow imply that boycott-riaa.com and their ilk have a legitimate beef! Heaven forbid!

Sounds like a great idea. As has been mentioned in the comments, right now everyone seems to be stuck to their own sites. No one site really sees it all. The idea of a rotating host or overseer to the site MIGHT just get everyone on the same page. Something the RIAA, MPAA, and all the over alphabet soup of organizations have enjoyed not having to recognise. They have been quite content to answer anything in a non-respondable fashion with the exception of the hecklers and trolls they are commonly sending to sites now.

As long as the grass roots don't get it together, they have no issue with it. Combine it into a lump sum they will have to try some shenanigens to try and control it. After all, news of stuff they do doesn't normally see the light of day without it being complementry to them. This has the potential of bringing a massive audience to a central gathering spot. Should that come to be, you can be sure that hecklers and trolls will be in full force trying to distract the issue and pull apart the cohesion of the group. While hearing of such at many sites, those I go to seem to be spared for the most part such. I guess the membership of those groups are a bit more than they can stand. Here I have seen one or two but they don't seem to have the ammo it takes to hang in there and have to resort to hit and run. Not very effective methods in the long run.

Go for it Jon, sounds great. Buckle up the seat belt to the easy chair and watch the fun as the trolls try to get a toe in.

this sounds like a good idea. having a central p2p newsite will provide everyone with accurate information (which the cartels dont want to keep everyone in the dark and 'on their side') lets hope it comes out soon

Cool idea. I'm always looking for a centralized P2P news site, and there hasn't been one yet.

The idea isn't to try to get 'all sides to the table'.

Rather, it's to organize a central web site through which people can easily find what's being said on all sides.

Cheers!

Do you really think we can get all sides at the table? In the meantime, for OUR views, we have p2p.net, downhillbattle.org, boycott-riaa.com, etc. all whom rarely if ever are able to get the other side to participate. The RIAA/MPAA and the like tend to use their bully pulpit of the mainstream media instead.
