Google buys dodgeball.com
p2pnet.net News:- Google has just bought dodgeball.com, set up by Dennis Crowley and Alex Rainert who descibe it as a social networking site built specifically for mobile phones.
“We’ll ping your friends with your whereabouts, let you know when friends-of-friends are within 10 blocks, allow you to broadcast content to anyone within 10 blocks of you or blast messages to your groups of friends,” they say on the site.
Why Google?
“We talked to a lot of different angel investors and venture capitalists, but no one really "got" what we were doing – that is until we met Google," say Crowley and Rainert. “They looked at us in a ‘You’re two guys doing some pretty cool stuff, why not let us help you out and let’s see what you can do with it’ type of way.”
What will this mean to dodgeball users?
“We’ve adopted Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service as our own,” the new Google partners state. “You should have received a notice about these new terms. If you disagree with the terms or decide that you don’t want to be a part of the new post-Google dodgeball, please delete your account.”
What if you don’t like the terms, and/or you don’t want Google getting hold of any personal info you’ve registered with the old dodgeball?
“While you can delete your account at any time, if you do so in the next 14 days, your account will be deleted immediately and the information in your profile will not be transferred over to Google."
