Will Xbox hit the spot for MS?

p2pnet.net News:- It?s Microsoft versus Sony and Nintendo for the game console stakes.

So far it?s Sony been in the lead with Nintendo coming up behind but last night Bill and the Boyz used MTV to launch their Xbox 360 out of the trap.

?For video-game enthusiasts, the debut marks the dawning of the next era in living-room combat, racing and sports competition,? says the San Diego Union-Tribune. ?Despite its smaller form, the Xbox 360 console houses three 3.2-gigahertz IBM microprocessors that could qualify it as the most powerful home computer on the market. It will include a 30-gigabyte hard drive. More powerful computer chips and increased memory will move 3-D video games closer to photo realism.?

The Xbox 360 is, “white with green undertones, a color the company has named ‘chill,’ and has wireless controllers and just the whisper of a logo,” says the Seattle Times. “It will operate horizontally or standing on one end, and has slightly concave sides.

“Whereas the first Xbox was Microsoft’s brash, in-your-face entrance into the video game industry, its successor is a more mature appeal beyond the hard-core gaming crowd.”

Microsoft didn?t say how much the Xbox 360 will cost, but ?Since their introductions, the current Xbox and Sony PlayStation 2 have dropped from $300 to $150 in the United States; Nintendo’s GameCube, originally $200, now sells for $100,? says the Union-Tribune.

“Analysts are expecting the machine to debut in the $300 range, says the Times.

Who’ll be first to the finish line?

With its larger library of games and the number of users, “I’d have to give the benefit of a doubt to to Sony,? the Union-Tribue has analyst Brian O’Rourke saying. And next week, Sony and Nintendo will offer their new systems at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
