Dad’s Westcoast Wildfire Awesome Sauce

p2pnet view P2P | Advertising:- “You’re back then? How did it go in Vancouver?”

That was VI Rob last week.

VI stands for Vancouver Island, BC, home of p2pnet. Liz, my wife, Emma,  my daughter, and I live here too. :)

I was on the BC mainland trying to develop new outlets for our Dad’s Westcoast Wildfire Awesome Sauce, the hot sauce my wife, Liz, and I created to help keep the wolf from our door, and p2pnet online.

To answer Rob, it went well, mate.

Like so many other sites, p2pnet was hit hard by the recession and I tried various ways to use the net to replace the advertising support I’d lost because of it, I said last year, going on:

“None of them worked and I decided try something completely different  — an off-line venture requiring no start-up capital (well, very little) no previous experience, and absolutely not reliant on the vagaries of the internet.

“It’s called Dad’s Westcoast Wildfire Awesome Sauce.”

Shameless p2pnet self-promotion

Until now, we’ve only been selling the sauce here on Vancouver Island which, because it’s an island, is obviously somewhat limited geographically.

However, as of yesterday, Dad’s Awesome Sauce, and our new Dad’s Westcoast Rainforest Awesome Sauce (mild, but not tame :) ) is being sold at Donald’s Market, 2342 East Hastings Street in the city of Vancouver on the mainland. And all things being equal, it’ll also be available in five other locations within a very short period of time.

SO – if you’re in Vancouver and you like a sauce that’s hot and tasty, but which won’t leave you on your knees, head over to Donald’s Market.

For fellow islanders, or if you’re visiting, it’s still available at:

  • LAKE COWICHAN
Hans’ Butcher Shop, 102 Cowichan Ave
  • CHEMAINUS
Chemainus Health Food Store, 9738 Willow St
  • NANAIMO
    Delicados, 358 Wesley St

Stay tuned …

NOTE: There’s a problem with the site which means it’s failing to display. But it’ll be back soon …

Cheers! And thanks. And all the best …
Liz, Emma and Jon

I’ll be there in September for a wedding or two and I’ll definitely look for it! : )

  2. Anonymous Says:

So does this mean you are now solvent?

  3. Jon Says:

@ RW: ‘So does this mean you are now solvent?’

Nope. We’re still a long way from that, or from paying ourselves a wage. When the volume builds up, which’ll take a while, we’ll be financially stable and with luck, I’ll be able to publish without needing to carry ads.

Now, at least, we’re moving ahead instead of going backwards. :)

    Cheers!

Hope it works out for ya

  5. Dorothy Says:

    Excellent news!

  6. Anonymous Says:

That sauce is actually very good, not hot* enough for me, but very good and good flavours.

    Good for you.

    *I’m an extremist.

  7. Jon Says:

@ ‘not hot* enough for me’

    heh

The idea is people should still be able to walk afterwards, and that their taste-buds aren’t seared off. It’s about 7.5 out of 10 heatwise. :)

    Cheers!

  8. Jay Says:

Sweet, or should I say hot damn. i gonna have to hit up Delicados this weekend.

  9. Jon Says:

@ Jay: And when you do, let me know what you think. :)

    Cheers! And thanks …

  10. Brian Meagher Says:

    Jon,
Would love to read more about your sauce, but the link to http://www.wildfiresauce.com/ is not working for me.
We review hot sauces here in the States. Feel free to email me privately.

  11. IT Guy Says:

Glad you’re making some headway. Website not working for me, either. Would you ship a bottle of each variety to the UK?

Also, I think it would be a mistake to cancel the ads when you no longer need them for support and here’s why:

They actually add to the look and appeal of your site. It’s all about p2p, so what better than to see a few specialist p2p ads?
They are static, so don’t irritate the reader.
These companies supported you through your hard times, so it seems fair to continue supporting them back.

I use Firefox with Flashblock & AdBlock+ to get rid of the damned ads, but I turn these blockers off for your site. So if I do, I’m sure others do so too. :)

  12. Jon Says:

@ IT Guy: I won’t be dropping TekSavvy, FrostWire or anyone else who’s helped to keep p2pnet going (as I’ve said a couple of times elsewhere).

I just mean we’ll be independent of advertising.

    Cheers!

  13. IT Guy Says:

    Thanks, that’s really cool. :)

  14. jay Says:

i picked up 2 bottles today at http://www.delicados-deli.com i noticed you didnt have a link for them, maybe cause its only in 1 of their 6 locations. havent tried it yet, maybe on a mcdonalds breakfast burrito tomorrow lol.

  15. Jon Says:

@ Jay: 2 bottles. One of each? And I don’t have a link because there isn’t one, really. Also, it’s a franchise and we haven’t really gone after any of the others yet.

    Cheers! And thanks, mate

  16. jay Says:

It was 2 bottles of the original one. Didnt even notice if there was another kind I just grabbed 2. The sauce is excellant. I like that it is a bit thick/chunky. Most hot sauces are like tabassco sauce consistancy. Also the hickory smoke favour was something I wasnt expecting. Made it taste a lot better. It was a bit spicey but that is nothing to me, I dont mind spicy stuff. That sauce made McDonalds breakfast burrito taste so much better.
