Jon Johansen can finally relax:

Jon Lech Johansen can finally relax now Norwegian state prosecutors have announced they won’t appeal the court ruling that upheld his acquittal for alleged copyright violations, effectively killing Hollywood’s last (?) attempt to nail him as an example to the world.

Johansen was on vacation in France when the news came, but his lawyer, says DVD Jon “expressed relief and satisfaction when contacted by telephone with the news”.

“You have to remember that Jon has grown up with these charges hanging over him,” Manshaus is quoted as saying in Norway’s Aftenposten here. “It’s been quite a burden.”

Oekokrim, Norway’s white-collar crime unit, was expected to appeal the case to the country’s supreme court.
