US threatens China

p2pnet.net News:- Hollywood’s close relationship with the Bush administration has been further underscored by news that, “The United States could bring a World Trade Organization case against China for piracy of copyrighted material, such as music, software and films”.

The quote comes in a Reuters story and is attributed to a “top Bush administration official”.

Yesterday, movie studio cartel front man Dan Glickman flew to China. His mission? To let the “PRC Government officials, business leaders and film industry officials in both Beijing and in Shanghai” know which way is up from his employers’ perspectives.

Glickman runs the movie studio cartel’s MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) enforcement unit and, “Serious market access barriers limit our legal business opportunities, while the piracy rate remains stuck at 95 percent in China in 2003 and 2004, a stunningly high percentage,” he said just before heading off.

“My message to the Chinese people and their government will be simple,” he continued, “Protecting intellectual property and stopping black-market piracy serves the long-term interests of the Chinese people and of the world at large. Video theft hurts the development of the domestic Chinese film industry as much as it hurts the international film industry.”

Now Reuters has US deputy secretary of state Robert Zoellick saying, “I think we would take a serious look if we could bring the evidence together to make that [piracy] case to the WTO.”

But, most US business groups have been, “a little slow coming forward with the evidence” the US needs to bring a WTO complaint against China for failing to enforce its intellectual property right laws, Zoellick said.

“Sen. Byron Dorgan, a North Dakota Democrat, introduced a resolution in the Senate on Monday urging the Bush administration to immediately bring a WTO complaint against China for intellectual property rights violations,” says Reuters, adding:

“The US trade deficit with China, which hit a record $162 billion in 2004, is out of control and Beijing’s ‘rampant trade cheating’ has got to stop, Dorgan said.”

LOL, thing is Glickman, they don’t need your ‘business’ apparently if the market is acheiving 95% availibility without your ‘consent’ ;)

I like a quote from a korean war general in reference to the onslaught the last time the US was in direct combat against chinese troops (forgot who it was, may have been mcarthur before he was fired)

“we’re not retreating, just advancing in another direction”

Don’t underestimate the power of a nation where young men heavily outnumber women, and heavily outnumber YOU.

Since time in memorial, such a population cross section has inevitably led to war.

China itches for it, and leave it to redneck nero to give it to them.
