And just to drive it home, Death of KaZaA, says the Lycos write-up, going on:

LimeWire is very nice, when I’m not using BT I use it or eMule.

I’ve been a LW supporter for a few years, mostly because of their opensource nature and Mac support.
The project has just started offering “bounties” to attract even more open source developers, and it seems to be paying off. http://www.limewire.org/wishlist.shtml

I have a little problem with that. LimeWire is Gnutella-based and Gnutella is an aging P2P network, save to say that LimeWire can make use of the new Gnutella2 network as well as the legacy network. The only reason it’s so pop is that Gnutella is pretty much a non-issue to the RIAA and MPAA these days, they’d rather concentrate on more popular file-sharing networks like BitTorrent, FastTrack or Blubster IMHO. The LimeWire people shouldn’t get their hopes up too high.

LimeWire is already the most popular file-sharing application if you go by the number of weekly downloads. They left heavy weights like Kazaa, eMule or Azureus behind and if this trend continues it will be the most popular file-sharing program in less than a year.
