Nintendo’s Revolution
p2pnet.net News:- Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 or the Nintendo Revolution?
Or, put another way, do you want a multi-media entertainment centre or do you just want to play games?
If the former, you’ll be looking at Microsoft and Sony. If the latter, Nintendo because it’s the latest company to announce a new system – and it’s a gaming box, plain and simple.
This week we’ve heard about the wonders of the Xbox 360 and PS3, but, “as Nintendo tries to come from behind in the next generation, it is betting that most people will choose a game console based on something other than the ability to plug a music player into it,” says the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Nintendo also says its Revolution, with built-in Wi-Fi, “will play downloadable versions of popular games originally made for the company’s previous consoles, dating back to the Nintendo Entertainment System, released 20 years ago. Among other features, the console will come with wireless connectivity for online gaming.”
But in a surprise move, “Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s executive vice-president of sales and marketing, also displayed a new GameBoy portable system, the Micro, which he pulled from the breast pocket of his suit jacket to gasps and some applause from the assembled crowd of game enthusiasts and journalists,” says the Globe & Mail.
“Mr. Fils-Aime said GameBoy Micro, which will be released this fall, will be two-thirds the size of Apple Computer Inc.’s iPod Mini and will weigh about the same as 80 paper clips.”
